Former York High standout in football and wrestling Antoine Holmes ('04) has done what few others have been able to do. Holmes made the journey from York running back and linebacker all the way to the NFL.
"York was the building block for me to be able to advance to each different level," Holmes said. "The biggest challenge has been the differences in speed, size and strength of those who I have gone up against, but my strong background has gotten me through it all."

Entering his fourth season as the head coach of York High School’s varsity football team, Doug Pereira has high hopes for this year’s Falcon squad.
After serving as an assistant coach at Essex in Tappahannock for four years, Pereira said the biggest difference is dealing with the off-field issues. Another change he had to become familiar with was the wins and losses reflecting on him, unlike during his days as an assistant.
“Since my first year here, I have put my stamp on the program, and the players now know how we run things,” Pereira said. “My first group of seniors has created a feel for that.”
