09/22 Update

-In the 1st results we've seen from girls volleyball, Warwick defeated Heritage tonight 25-18, 25-20, 25-17, to move to 2-1 in Peninsula District competition.  Charmayne Clark had 6 kills, 5 blocks, and 8 service points for the Raiders.

-In boys volleyball, Heritage defeated Warwick 25-16, 25-20, 22-25, 25-14.

-Robin Roston had 22 saves in the field hockey team's 3-0 loss to Hampton.  The loss drops the Raiders to 3-7 overall and 1-2 in the PD.

-In the 8th PD golf match of the year, the Raiders recorded their best finish yet, shooting a team score of 364 to take 5th place.  Warwick is still in 7th place overall with one match remaining, but is knocking on the door to take over 6th place from Bethel.

-Eliza Lavery won her second straight dual meet, but the girls cross country team lost to Bethel today 21-34.  The boys team also lost (25-31), but had great races from Desmond Fogg, who took second overall, and Deshonte Parker, who ran a personal-best time on the tough Mariner's Museum course.  The girls are 0-2 on the season and the boys are 1-1.  Next up is Saturday's Chesapeake Invitational at Bells Mill Park.  The cross country teams are also having car washes this Friday (24 September) and next Friday (01 October) at the Hardee's at Jefferson and Dresden from 3-6.

09/19 Weekend Update

Field Hockey- The Warwick girls are now 3-5 overall and 1-1 in the Peninsula District.  The Raiders made up for a 3-1 loss to Bruton by beating PD rival Woodside 3-2 on Tuesday in a game decided by penalty strokes.  Tied 1-1 at the end of regulation, Elizabeth Hubbard and Kelly Carson scored penalty strokes to give the Raiders the edge.  Goalie Robin Roston made 22 saves in the game.  On Friday, the ladies beat Eastern Region foe Deep Creek 4-0 and were led by 2 goals from Anne Marie Lindemann.  The JV team beat Deep Creek 5-0 and lost to Woodside 3-2.

Golf- The Raiders are still in 7th place in the PD after finishing 7th in the 7th PD match on Wednesday.

Boys and Girls Volleyball- I have yet to see any results from Warwick in the paper or heard anything from coaches.  With more PD games in the coming weeks, I should be able to make it out to one or more.  In the meantime, if there is anyone who wants to send updates/scores/stats, that would be great.

Boys and Girls Cross Country- The Raiders XC teams competed at the William & Mary Invitational on Saturday.  Junior Desmond Fogg's 17:34 was good enough for 12th place in the boys varsity B race and led the Raiders to an 11th place team finish.  Myles Spivey, Javon Walker, Deshonte Parker, and Wade Hodson made up the rest of the top 5 scorers for Warwick.  The girls were led by a 23rd place finish by sophomore Eliza Lavery.

08/10 Summer Update

Just a few sights and sounds from various fall sports practices at Warwick:

Football: Raiders head coach Juan Jackson has about 75 players out right now.  He's pleased with his skill-position players, saying that they "can match up with any team in the Region."  He is also happy with his defense, but says the offensive line needs more development due to injuries and playershaving to change positions.

Field Hockey: The Raiders will field both Varsity and JV teams this fall and are working hard at their camp this week that was coordinated by Coach Scudder.

Cross Country: This is the largest XC team Warwick has had in recent memory.  There are over 20 boys out for a team that definitely figures to be in the hunt for a team District championship come October 28th.  The team features 3 of the 4 legs of the District champion 4x8 team from last outdoor season.  The girls team is young and growing, with new athletes coming out almost daily.

Updates from golf and volleyball are coming later in the week.  Good luck to the golf team in their first match today!
