12/8 Basketball Update

-The Raiders (2-2, 1-2 PD) earned their first PD victory against Woodside on Tuesday night, narrowly winnig 46-45.  Breven Lyons scored 16 and is still leading the Raiders with 15.5ppg. 

-The Lady Raiders (2-1, 2-1 PD) suffered their first loss of the season to Woodside.  They were outscored 47-38, despite 18 points from LaQuanda Younger (21ppg).

12/5 Basketball Update

-Breven Lyons and Devon Asbury both scored 11 points, but Warwick (0-2, 0-2 PD) lost to Phoebus 74-39 on Friday night.

-Coach Moore's boys earned their first win of the year with a 41-36 victory over Lakeland on Saturday.  Breven Lyons scored 16 for the Raiders (1-2, 0-2 PD) and is averaging 15.3 points per game through his first 3 games.

-The Lady Raiders (2-0, 2-0 PD) won their second straight game, beating Phoebus 64-28 behind LaQuanda Younger's 27 points.  Younger is averaging 22.5 points per game.

The Raiders have  2 home games this week, facing Woodside on Tuesday and Hampton on Friday.  The girls games start at 5:30 and the boys games start at 7:00.

Basketball Update

-The Lady Raiders defeated Menchville 79-18 (yes, you read that correctly) on Wednesday night in their first game of the season.  The girls led 37-11 at half and never looked back, outscoring the Monarchs 42-7 in the second half.  LaQuanda Younger matched Menchville's total by herself and also had 8 rebounds and 7 steals.  Taiyanah Scott equaled Younger's rebound total and added 16 points in the winning effort.  Ashley Cunningham, who transferred from Menchville this year, had 9 steals to go with her 11 points.  The JV girls won 54-24.

-The Raiders dropped their first game of the year to Menchville by a score of 67-60 on Wednesday, despite a 33-29 halftime lead.  The Raiders were outscored 22-13 in the 4th quarter as the Monarchs pulled away.  Breven Lyons led the Raiders with 19 points; Devon Asbury chipped in 15 and Jelani Saunders scored 12.  LJ Carney, Doryan Soto, and Patrick Hunt (brother of Colin Hunt, an '03 grad and basketball standout) added 4 points each.  Melvin Hazleton and Cameron Riggsbee scored 1 point each.  The JV boys won 52-41.
