Girls Soccer Updates

The Lady Raiders are 1-2-1 in PD play and 2-4-1 overall.  Warwick is tied for 6th with Bethel in the Peninsula District with 5 games remaining.  A May 6th matchup with the Bruins could be vital to Warwick's hopes of making the playoffs.

Boys Soccer Updates

The Warwick boys soccer team, under first-year coach Michael Norton, is currently 1-3 in District play and 2-4 overall.  After earning their first District win against Woodside on April 19th, the Raiders suffered a tough loss against Hampton last Friday.  Leading 2-0 at half and 3-2 with 10 minutes to play, the Raiders gave up 2 goals in those last 10 minutes and lost 4-3.  With 5 games to go, Warwick is tied with Hampton for 8th place in the PD.  3 of the remaining 5 games are against teams on the top half of the District standings, including the final regular season game against first-place Kecoughtan.

Girls Tennis Updates

With one match remaining in the regular season, the Lady Raiders are 4-3 in District play.  Warwick's next match is against Kecoughtan tomorrow.

Boys Tennis Updates

The Warwick boys tennis team, coached by Thomas Lomax, is experiencing a great deal of success.  With one match left in the regular season, the boys are 7-1 and have not lost since March 17th.  The Raiders' one loss was 5-4 to Menchville, who is currently undefeated, to start the season.

Softball Updates

With 6 games left in the Peninsula District regular season, the Lady Raiders are in 6th place in the District standings.  Warwick (6-7, 6-7 PD) is a half-game behind Woodside, with whom they split two games, for 5th place.  The Lady Raiders have outscored opponents 96-89, which includes a 19-0 victory over Phoebus and two wins by 17 runs.

Baseball Updates

After starting the season 9-1, including a first-game win over rival Menchville, the Raiders have lost 3 of their last 5 and are now 10-4, 8-4 PD.  Coach Barker's boys dropped both of their games to District-leading Woodside, lost 13-3 to Menchville, and lost a one-run game to Denbigh.  With 6 games left in Peninsula District play, the Raiders are in a 3-way tie for 3rd behind Woodside and Menchville.

Unfortunately, the Raiders will be without standout Brandon Delk for the rest of the season.  Delk, a closer/shortstop and Warwick's best hitter, partially tore a ligament in his pitching elbow during the Bethel game.  Dave Johnson's story about the injury can be found here.

Luckily, Coach Barker still has catcher Ben Delgado, who was featured in an article in Sunday's Daily Press, and Longwood-signee and pitcher Brandon Vick.
