Subject: Peninsula Catholic "Bill McGough" Invitational results

Walsingham XC parents/coaches/friends,

Saturdays meet at Peninsula Catholic was a huge success story for our teams.

The girls JV team led by Christine "McBeast" McBeath (3rd), Isabella "(No nickname yet)" Simmons (6th) and Jessica "Shoelaces" Link (8th) with strong support from Meredith Watkins (24th), Madison Karnes (24th) and newcomer Samantha Cucuel (43rd) won the second place team trophy.

In the boys varsity race Adam Link (3rd) and Colin McAtee (6th) led the team to a 7th place finish with strong races from Daniel "DanO" Brause and Alex "Fudge" Kenney.

Joanna Morelli (19th), Reilly Pieri (21st) and Marshall Wilson (23rd) were our top performers in the girls varsity race.

The boys JV team got great runs from Fernando MacFarlane (17th) Chandler Julien (23rd) and Ian Gallagher (24th).

The most encouraging fact was that of the 26 runners we entered in the meet 20 achiever Personal Records (PRs = personal best performances over the  5K race distance).

Areas we need to work on: improving our 2 and 3 mile times...

On a sad note Mackenzie Karnes fell during the girls varsity race and sprained her ankle.  Hopefully she'll recover soon enough to run with the team late in the season.

We do need parent volunteers to help us at our Walsingham Invitational Meet next Thursday 24 Sept. Meet starts at 3:30PM. Please contact Coach Higgins if you can help.

Go Trojans
