Last night the JV and Middle School Football teams celebrated a successful season of growth at the Walsingham Football Club 2010 Banquet and Awards Ceremony.
The LS Gym was transformed into a beautiful dining room with white table clothes and candlelight. The evening was hosted by Football Club President Tommy Neville, with honored guests Athletic Director Ned Cheely, Assistant Athletic Director Jess Spadafora, and LS Assistant Principal Scott Bolton in attendance.
A pot-luck dinner was shared by coaches, players and their families. A video montage, prepared by Mark Hamra, helped to highlight the season. Coach Waefler and his staff gave all players certificates and shared the importance of each member of the team as the players were called to receive their certificates.
Coach recognized the JV Captains Brian Werzner and Trevor Caccetta and Middle School Captains Trey Neville and Thomas Radke as valuable assets to both the players and the coaches throughout the season. A few stand-out players were also recognized for their contributions to the team:
JV Offensive MVP- Duncan Hamra
JV Defensive MVP- Luke Lejeune
JV Coach's Award- Tom Nanartowich
Middle School Offensive MVP- Thomas Radke
Middle School Defensive MVP- Trey Neville
Middle School Coach's Award- Jack Nanartowich
The evening concluded with words of gratitude to the Coaches from team Captains Werzner and Radke.
This season was the first in Walsingham's 66-year history to include a JV and Middle School Football team. Next year, Walsingham will offer Football at the Varsity and Middle School levels. All 2010 players intend to return to the team next year, and preliminary data shows a great number of WA students hope to join the Football family, as well.
The Football team will condition throughout the off-season with Coach Waefler.
GOOOOOOOO TROOOOJAAANNNNNNSSSS!!!!!
Football families, we're just days away from the Football Banquet!
We have a wonderful opportunity to share are gratitude for the coaching staff and let our players know how proud we are of them!
Don't forget your players should wear COAT & TIE.
All families are asked to bring a dish that serves 12 to share--don 't forget the serving utensil!
The Football Banquet will be held Nov. 14 in the LS Gym. This is seperate from the WA Fall Sports Ceremony. It will be a wonderful night of reflection and apprecition of all our athletes, coaches and their families. Dress code is collared shirts and dress pants.
We plan on starting winter conditioning with some of the older boys on Monday. We will have a separate program for our MS boys which I will be in contact about in the near future.
Thank you all so much for the positive support this year. Numerous parents have emailed me and the coaching staff with such enthusiasm for the program, thank you so much, it makes us realize that you understand we are all here for the boys!
Look forward to seeing everyone at our banquet!
Coach Waefler

Walsingham fans were really disappointed when James City County called off the game on Friday night! Both the Upper and Lower Schools were excited to show their school spirit at the Walsingham JV Football game--they made posters, gathered friends and were wearing their RED & WHITE!
Unfortunately, the weather dampened the fields just enough for the county to call off the game and send Athletic Directors from both teams scrambling to reschedule.
The good news: the game will be rescheduled!
The date has not been released but it looks like the fans are demanding for FRIDAY NIGHT UNDER THE LIGHTS....!
...to be continued....
You tell us: How important it is to make it a Friday game...????
