WALSINGHAM SAILING TEAM CRUISES IN ROUTE TO SUGAR BOWL CUP

From Elizabeth Marquardt:

WA Trojaon sailors joined 32 other teams in New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl.  James Gardner and Gena Marquardt will started the race in boat #3.  Coach Mark Newan William Bomar and Jacob Marquardt were on the floating barg for support and to change out as the day went on.  They sailed against teams from Maine to Florida and Washington state to Virginia.

Winds were light to start.

It was an awesome day on Lake Pontechartrain in  New Orleans for the Trojans.  James Gardner and Gena Marquardt started the day witha bullet ( first palace) in the first race of the day! The Trojans continued to sail consistently all day.  The 33 boat fleet was split into green and red.  Trojans finished 6th in their fleet for the day.  Thus they will sail for the Sugar Bowl cup in the gold fleet tomorrow ( top 17 teams of the day).

Fair winds and sail fast!!!!

Go Trojans.

..final results to follow....

WALSINGHAM FOOTBALL BANQUET IS A SUCCESS!

Last night the JV and Middle School Football teams celebrated a successful season of growth at the Walsingham Football Club 2010 Banquet and Awards Ceremony.

The LS Gym was transformed into a beautiful dining room with white table clothes and candlelight.  The evening was hosted by Football Club President Tommy Neville, with honored guests Athletic Director Ned Cheely, Assistant Athletic Director Jess Spadafora, and LS Assistant Principal Scott Bolton in attendance.

A pot-luck dinner was shared by coaches, players and their families.  A video montage, prepared by Mark Hamra, helped to highlight the season.  Coach Waefler and his staff gave all players certificates and shared the importance of each member of the team as the players were called to receive their certificates.

Coach recognized the JV Captains Brian Werzner and Trevor Caccetta and Middle School Captains Trey Neville and Thomas Radke as valuable assets to both the players and the coaches throughout the season.  A few stand-out players were also recognized for their contributions to the team:

JV Offensive MVP-  Duncan Hamra

JV Defensive MVP- Luke Lejeune

JV Coach's Award- Tom Nanartowich

Middle School Offensive MVP- Thomas Radke

Middle School Defensive MVP- Trey Neville

Middle School Coach's Award- Jack Nanartowich

The evening concluded with words of gratitude to the Coaches  from team Captains Werzner and Radke.

This season was the first in Walsingham's 66-year history to include a JV and Middle School Football team. Next year, Walsingham will offer Football at the Varsity and Middle School levels.   All 2010 players intend to return to the team next year, and preliminary data shows a great number of WA students hope to join the Football family, as well.

The Football team will condition throughout the off-season with Coach Waefler.

First day in NJ racing at Toms River Yacht Club E@ races were sailed in A fleet and 8 races were sailed in B  fleet.  Both William Bomar and Gena Marquardt skippered A fleet and James Gardeners skippered B fleet.  Jacob Marquardt crewed for both William and James, while Meredith Robinson crewed for Gena and Laura Fowler crewed for James.
