Gov. Bob McDonnell and Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling both sent out statements through Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney's campaign Monday making election eve pitches for why Virginia voters should cast their ballots for Romney in Tuesday's general election.
McDonnell and Bolling predicted a Romney win both nationally and in the Old Dominion.
Gov. Bob McDonnell:
“Thanks in part to the hard work and support of the people of Virginia, Mitt Romney is going to win this election and, when he does, America will take its first steps down a positive, new path. It is a path away from chronically high unemployment, weak leadership, and trillion-dollar deficits, and toward a strong foreign policy, energy independence, and a booming, job-creating economy. Americans deserve a future that's even brighter than our past - and the peace of the world depends upon another American Century. The change our country has been waiting for begins on November 6. All Mitt Romney needs now is our votes. As president, he will get America out of debt, and Americans back to work."
Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling:
“On November 6, Virginia will help elect Mitt Romney as the next President of the United States because he is the candidate who will bring real change and a real recovery. Barack Obama promised us this, but he failed to deliver. Governor Romney understands what it takes to bring people together to solve challenges, create jobs, and restore the strength of our economy, our military, and our position in the world. When Mitt Romney is president, the next four years will be better than the last four years.”

When both of these statements were made, I think the speakers were aware that they were on the losing side. Neither speech sounds sincerely optimistic. They were just mouthing words they were expected to say.
