With the uber-contentious climit in Washington and on the campaign trails this election season the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation is hosting a webcast on civil discourse in American politics Thursday.
The webcast will look at political rhetoric, compromise, polarization, ideology negative advertising and the the influence of the press on elections.
The webcast will be broadcast 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Colonial Williamsburg's "Connect" website, www.history.org/connect.
The webcast, titled "Civil Discourse," will be hosted by Julie Silverbrook of the Constitutional Sources Project.
Guests on the webcast include President George Washington, portrayed by Ron Carnegie;President Thomas Jefferson, portrayed by Bill Barker; Quentin Kidd, director of the Wason Center for Public Policy at Christopher Newport University; and University of Virginia Ph.D. candidate in American Politics Emily Sydnor.
