The Daily Press will be holding three debates in October for congressional candidates in Virginia's 1st, 2nd and 3rd Congressional Districts at Christopher Newport University.
The debates will be moderated by Quentin Kidd, director of the Wason Center for Public Policy at CNU.
The first debate between candidates in the 3rd District, U.S. Rep. Robert C. "Bobby" Scott, D-Newport News and Republican challenger Dean Longo of Newport News, will be held Monday, Oct. 1 in the CNU main ballroom from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The second debate features three candidates in the 1st District, U.S. Rep. Rob Wittman, R-Westmoreland, Democratic challenger Adam Cook of Fredericksburg and Independent Green candidate Gail Parker. This event will be held Tuesday Oct. 9 in the CNU main ballroom from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Candidates in the 2nd Dist., U.S. Rep. Scott Rigell, R-Virginia Beach, and Democratic challenger Paul Hirschbiel of Virginia Beach, will face off in the final debate Monday Oct. 29 from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the CNU music and theater hall in the Ferguson Center for the Arts.
Christopher Newport University is located at 1 Avenue of the Arts in Newport News.
