Here are clips from a couple of interesting maps from the Virginia Public Access Project, which tracks campaign financing in the commonwealth.
This one shows the portion of Newport News where Republican Senate candidate George Allen (red) has raised more money than Democratic candidate Tim Kaine (and vice versa):
And this one shows (in blue) the portion of Newport News that the Republican-led General Assembly added to the 2nd Congressional District -- where freshman Republican Scott Rigell is being challenged by Democrat Paul Hirschbiel:
The overlap is probably coincidental.

I've been represented by Congressman Bobby Scott for about 20 years -- a man who agrees with me about 75% of the time. Thanks to gerrymandering, I will now be in the 2nd District and represented by Scott Riggell -- a man who agrees with me about 15% of the time. Congressional distrcits should be drawn by computer data -- WITHOUT REGARD for who lives there. The present system of letting the party in control of state legislature draw the lines is always biased regardless of which party is in power.
