With just 11 months to go until the November 2012 presidential election, President Barack Obama's campaign is opening two campaign field offices in Virginia Saturday - one in Newport News and one in Fairfax.
U.S. Rep. Bobby Scott, D-Newport News, Neport News Mayor McKinley Price and Hampton Mayor Molly Ward will be on hand for the Newport News opening, which takes place at 12 p.m., at 2712 Chestnut Ave.
Obama's campaign, Organizing for America, said in a press release it has been active in the commonwealth since the president announced his election bid April 4, holding more than "2,000 grassroots trainings, planning sessions, house parties, voter registration drives and phone banks."
The Fairfax office opening will began at 11:30 a.m. at 11215-P Lee Highway and will include U.S. Rep. Gerry Connolly.
Obama won Virginia in 2008, and the coomon wealth is considered a key battleground state for the 2012 election.

Romney spokesman Ryan Williams said that while the campaign is focusing heavily on the three states, Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, that have the first caucuses and primaries come January, it has been working in the commonwealth by recruiting volunteers and collecting signatures to appear on the ballot for the March 6 Republican primary.
