Virginia Republican Party chairman Pat Mullins just officially confirmed that David Bartholomew has resigned his leadership post with the Virginia Beach GOP after forwarding a racist email about a black dog applying for welfare.
Here's the full statement.
“I was personally very upset when I learned about an email one of our Unit Chairman sent out several months ago. The message of that email has no place in our society and is totally inappropriate.
Last night the Virginia Beach Unit Chair resigned, and I have accepted that resignation."
Meanwhile, the Virginia Beach GOP has been hard at work scrubbing Bartholomew from their website. The front page used to feature a picture of Bartholomew shaking hands with Republican congressional candidate Scott Rigell, who is locked in a tough race against freshman Rep. Glenn Nye.

Opps. Oh well, like America didn't know that the GOP isn't the political wing of the Klan.
