Virginia Sen. Jim Webb is applauding President Barack Obama move to open up the East Coast to oil and natural gas exploration and he's preparing to put in a bill to make sure Virginia get's a slice of the money generated off the coast.
Webb wants to make sure Virginia doesn't miss out on any potential profits.
“Opening up Virginia’s offshore resources to natural gas and oil exploration holds significant promise for boosting needed domestic energy production, while at the same time, bolstering the Commonwealth’s economy,” said Senator Webb. “Support among Virginia’s political leadership for developing the resources 50 miles off of our coast is strong. This policy should be coupled with a fair and equitable formula for profit-sharing between the federal and state government in order to attract well-paying jobs to the Commonwealth and support a range of projects, from clean energy development to transportation infrastructure to coastal restoration.”
Senator Webb has consistently called for a holistic approach to addressing our nation’s energy needs. “Enhancing our nation’s energy independence and answering our emerging energy needs demands that we keep all options on the table, including conservation, renewable energy and energy efficiency, domestic offshore oil and gas development, clean coal, and nuclear power,” said Webb, who introduced the bipartisan “Clean Energy Act” in November 2009 to promote further investment and development of the nation’s clean energy technologies, including nuclear power and other resources.

Too bad Webb and Warner were not as concerned about the government takeover of Health Care. No shortage of these clowns to help spend taxpayer money. Vote them out.
