Terry McAuliffe will officially test the waters for a run for governor
The Associated Press reports that former Democratic National Committee chairman Terry McAuliffe signed papers today for a possible run for governor next year in Virginia.
McAuliffe told AP that he has established a campaign committee and will tour the state for the next 60 days before making his candidacy final.
Two other Democrats are already running for governor -- state Sen. Creigh Deeds, who lost the race for attorney general by a few hundred votes in 2005, and state Del. Brian Moran, chairman of the House Democratic Caucus.
On the Republican side, Attorney General Bob McDonnell is running for governor while Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling is seeking re-election.
