A red tide is washing through Hampton Roads
After weeks of wondering when the Republican side of the presidential race would be coming to town, Hampton Roads residents -- even up to Richmond -- are suddenly awash in opportunities to attend campaign events.
This morning and afternoon, a stream of John McCain surrogates came through. Former Massachusetts Gov. Jane Swift and Roberta McCain, the candidate's mother, were in Williamsburg a while ago for an appearance at the campaign office.
That was followed by the John Warner-Tom Ridge economic town hall meeting at Christopher Newport University, where Gov. Swift and Mrs. McCain also put in an appearance. (Look for coverage of both events in Saturday's Daily Press and later today at DP.com.)
Monday morning is the big event, of course -- McCain and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin at the Virginia Beach Convention Center (after a wake-up call delivered by Hank Williams Jr.).
Then Palin is on to Richmond, where the campaign just announced a new time and location. Instead of 11 a.m. at the Arthur Ashe Center, the Richmond rally has moved back to 2 p.m. at Richmond International Raceway.
Should be room enough for all there, I would think.
Tickets for the Virginia Beach and Richmond events will be available at the door and at area campaign offices, or you can print them out here.

Fully agreed, Mr. Paul. It's too bad the McCain-Palin ticket can only offer divisiveness and negativity instead of real solutions to the many problems we face as a nation. They enjoy sowing the seeds of fear and hate, just like Bush, Cheney, Rove, and Rumsfeld. Goodbye, new GOP.

Maybe Palin can explain why she shouldn't be impeached as Governor of Alaska for her abuse of power, as was found by a bi-partisan commission of Alaska legislators! I'll pass on seeing the McCain HATE-EXPRESS when I can watch old Nazi war gatherings on the History Channel.
When all you've got to sell is hate and division, maybe McCain-Palin can just go somewhere else!
