Pre-spinning the Sarah Palin speech in Virginia
Cyberspace is crackling with buzz over tonight's speech from Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the GOP vice presidential candidate. It represents her first chance to introduce herself of the nation, trumpet her credentials and answer questions about her record.
Pundits and both campaigns are on full spin cycle.
Terry Holland of Williamsburg supported Democrat Hillary Clinton earlier this year. She is"incensed and insulted" that Republicans are trying to sway Clinton supporters simply by putting a woman on the GOP ticket, she said.
The selection of Palin prompted her to volunteer for Democratic nominee Barack Obama, she said.
Holland spoke to reporters Wednesday in a conference call arranged by Virginia Democrats in advance of Palin's speech.
Also on the call was Sen. Mary Margaret Whipple, D-Arlington, who said McCain catered to the Republican right wing by selecting Palin, and Clinton supporters aren't buying it.
Meanwhile, the McCain campaign is lashing out at the media for what it calls unfair treatment of Palin. Some pundits are coming to Palin's defense.
And The Washington Post is reporting that Palin was interviewed by McCain late in the process.
We'll be watching the speech tonight along with everyone else. What are your expectations? Will she win over our hearts? Will she bomb? Will she hit back at the media for asking stupid questions? And will she use a hockey stick?

My money's on the hockey stick.
I'm particularly interested to hear more about her policy positions and, say, her plans to push abstinence-only sex education.
