Republican National Committee sets up shop in Hampton Roads...
The Republican National Committee is setting up its regional headquarters in Virginia Beach on Saturday at 10 a.m.
U.S. Rep Thelma Drake is going to be the honored guest at the kickoff. Hampton Roads has got to be a key spot on the GOP map these days. Drake is used to tough campaign challenges, but she's dealing with a different climate this year. It remains to be seen how well Democrat Glenn Nye will do in his first campaign as summer turns to fall, but he's definitely been pounding the pavement and getting some good donations.
On the national scene, Hampton Roads is probably strange territory because of it's large urban and African-American populations. Republican John McCain has strong military links here that are likely to bring ut big numbers and he has a great advocate in retiring U.S. Sen. John Warner - the unrivaled lion of the state Republica Party. Meanwhile, Democrat Barack Obama continues to flash signs that he's going to really work to win the Old Dominion.
Want to visit the GOP HQ - here's the address:
512 S. Independence Boulevard
Suite 200
Virginia Beach, Va. 23452

MY son and his neighbors and I and my neighbors would both like to get McCain/Palin car stickers and lawn posts. WHERE can we pick them up. We both live in the Fox Hills area of Hampton.
