On the contrary to the comment about retired military and law enforcement entering the partisan politics, I feel when they do step in with comments/endorsements it is without the partisanship. These folks have insight that as a regular citizen, I would not. They know how the system works from the inside - which policies are effective and which policies are truly just window dressing for the next campaign brochure. I listen to them a lot more than I listen to the Sunday morning pundits...
