Hampton Roads and NoVa lawmakers plan a transportation summit
At least 40 lawmakers from Hampton Roads and Northern Virginia are planning to get together in Richmond next Wednesday to talk about transportation issues, the Washington Post reported this morning.
The conversation about the two regional delegations coming together has been going on for a few weeks, at least back to the beginning of April, when Hampton Roads lawmakers gathered to bat around ideas.
Del. John Cosgrove, R-Chesapeake, mentioned last week that the meeting was being planned (see earlier post) and seems to believe that if the 60 lawmakers who represent the two regions formed a transportation bloc, they just might be able to get a workable plan through the General Assembly. "If we could come up with a solution, nothing could stop us," he told the Post.
Gov. Tim Kaine is planning to call a special session in June to deal with transportation issues and has said that he'll put forward his own proposal by the end of next week.

If we're lucky, the meeting place will be hit with a giant tsunami and wash all of these idiots into the ocean. Aside from the stink the Ocean will suffer for years to come and the high pollution rates, maybe it would be a 'starting over' place where citizen can vote in some politicans that aren't complete and total dolts.
We can only pray that the Democrats do a better job when they take over the House in 2009. They certainly can't do any worse than the Republicans have done!
