« Hampton Roads, meet Northern Virginia. | Main | A new urban majority? »

At least trafific didn't hold up the meeting ...

State lawmakers from Northern Virginia and Hampton Roads are meeting as we speak up here in Richmond, hoping to find common ground on their transportation problems.

Del. John Cosgrove, R-Chesapeake, struck a bipartisan tone early on when he told everyone to leave their party affiliation "at the door."

It is interesting to see how two areas of the state -- separated by less than 200 miles -- have so much in common, yet don't always have a sense of each other's problems.

To wit: the first two items on the agenda feature legislators from each region giving a thumbnail description of what they are facing.

And there are a fair amount of questions from each side.

We'll try to keep you posted as the day goes on.
