Mark Warner to stump for Forgit

Former Gov. Mark Warner will headline a rally for Democratic congressional candidate Philip Forgit on Monday in Newport News.

One day before Tuesday's special election to fill the House seat of the late Rep. Jo Ann Davis, Warner will try to lend his star appeal to a fellow Democrat in a Republican-friendly House district.

Forgit, a former elementary school teacher and Iraq war veteran, faces Republican Robert Wittman, a state delegate from the Northern Neck with a long tenure in local government. Independent candidate Lucky Narain is also competing.

Warner, the likely Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate next year, will attend a rally at Forgit's campaign office at 2 Hidenwood Shopping Center in Newport News.
