MacacaGate, Day 2: The Blogs Respond
A national political figure saying something silly is undoubtedly ample fodder for your average political blog. But if there's video? Well, that's a Christmas in Paris for bloggers everywhere.
And Sen. George Allen's comments to Webb campaign staffer S.R. Sidarth -- Allen referred to Sidarth as "Macaca" and went on from there -- have lit up the blogosphere's holiday lights.
Conservative blogs are bemoaning a favorite son's miscue (Allen under fire for quip), liberal blogs are giving it blanket-coverage treatment (RaisingKaine's entire page) and conspiracy theorists (Hakuna Macaca Macaque -- scroll down) are having a bit of fun with Allen's past.
And as is wont in the blogosphere, someone went the extra mile on what, if any, racial implications "Macaca" might have: Here is the blog Frameshop, but please be aware that this post is rated R for adult language.
But the most amusing tack comes from -- who else? -- the irrepressible Wonkette. Here is their BREAKING NEWS post with their usual dollop of snark.
And of course, there's a poll: George Allen: What do you think? With 1,000-plus votes in ...well, see the results for yourself.

I picked this up on the web -- are the ghosts from Allen's past starting to come out to haunt hm?
"Check out a company called Xybernaut, where Allen served as a director for a time. Whole thing was basically a penny stock swindle."

No, credit needs to go exclusively to NLS. Kudos, Ben. And hey, enjoy your weekend in Martinsville. They better give you a standing ovation for your great work. I'd be there 'cept its 6 frickin hours drive!

Heck, how about some credit for the Virginia blogs from all perspectives that were all over this from every possible angle covering and debating this as well or better than the state's editorial pages?
Guys, there are something like 125 of them: You can find them here: www.blognetnews.com/virginia/ or here www.vapoliticalblogs.com.

How about some credit for the blog that broke the story a day before anyone else?
