A GAME FOR THE AGES

That went on yesterday afternoon. It was a regional tournament game and the experience of both teams showed. Both these teams came to play. The game seemed to never be ending...the weather may have played on that. It was unbarring hot. I was sweating profusely and had to  move into the shaded territory....which was where all the Southampton supporters were...I know, wasn't I lucky?!For the sheer fact I did not have an accent they all knew I was not from their area...and I kept clapping for Tabb. Well, both teams got runs in very early...and then none for the rest of the game almost. It was 1-1 for like over 9 innings. Both teams had opportunities to end it, but the other team always prevailed to get the 3rd out. Patrick Corbett almost had a homerun...it only need another inch, but turned out to be just a double. Norris and the Keg had a few good hit...along with many others, but still it all lead  to outs. Pop flys were becoming a problem, no one was really catching 'em, it was a bit disappointing, but never really hurt the score. The game entered the bottom of the 10th and it looked as if the game was never going to end...though many wish it would already....I did!...It was hot! In the bottom of the 10th 3 tigers were on base, Corbett came up and as the paper read this morning: was walked intentionally then Kegelman came up and was walked unintentionally. I cannot recall how many outs there were...but it did not matter...it was a Tabb win. I can't help, but feel a little sympathy for the Southampton pitcher...that feeling must suck...but good job to Southampton. It was a game yesterday. We should do it every Memorial Day, the Tabb Memorial Day Classic. Tabb was able to do it again! By the way the Piped Phifer got the winning run again. No one can stop that kid...and he is actually in 9th grade and not a kid...just short. We were reminded that Southampton is a competitor and are kinda glad they're not in our district anymore. Next game is Wednesday, time: TBA, and against a current district friend: Jamestown. You can call it luck, moxy, skill, experience, but Tabb is still moving right along....so Marty O'Brien isn't this team cute?

TODAY

We have some more regional action this evening, but these games are away...like kinda far...but are really important. The games all have to deal with football...or futbol...or soccer. Let's start with girls soccer. The is against Chancellor, their home, at 6 PM. I do not know much about Chancellor, but I do know a lot about Tabb. The Tabb girls soccer team played in the district tournament final. I am confident they can end up in a final game again...but it maybe not be too close...but distance does not matter. This team will play good anyway, no matter what the location...in a box with a fox...just name it Dr. Seuss! It was been a few days since the girls have played a game, much preparation has been put into this game. With this match, I believe, if they lose then the season is over. I am sure B-Jazz, F-Bomb, Kinetic Kinney, O, the Hawk, and the rest of the team has something to say about that! I know it is quite a ways away, but trust me sooner or later today someone will probably comment the score, so we'll have it. For now good luck girls soccer...,don't give Chancellor a chance!

The boys soccer team is playing in a regional game tonight also..and it is far away. They play Courtland, not at there, but Spotlyvania High...it must be closeby. The game starts at 7. The boys have not played even longer than the girls...so they have much more preparation than any team. They have been waiting a long time. The team got out too early last time and won't let that happen again. They are ready to play already...well wait no longer...the tigers will be unleashed tonight. Tabb boys soccer will be the garlic in Spotslyvania...lamejoke? Boys soccer are on a mission....a mission for a win. If they exit tonight they are not entering the building again...and people like Seanaldo, Maw-some, No-Mercy Mader, Real-Time Robby, and the rest of the time has VIP passes for this tournament, so can't lose them. I do not know about this opposing team either, but I do not think they have any VIP passes...Tabb boys soccer has a vision of a win...and hopefully it will become a reality. I may have this score too...I got connections on the team...though no wants to do an interview! Good luck guys tonight!

The Wiz Kid!....wait it's the other Wiz Kid...not the loser one who helps out this blog (the second picture.), but the first one his cousin who was drafted to the Oakland Raiders recently. Can't you see the resemblance between them?...So we are ditching our Wiz Kid and going for, of course, the famous one! Finally this blog will get recognition...star power! Celebrities will be around every corner! With the first Wiz Kid all we got was like...the Duke Dog! So see ya Wiz Kid...and hello Wiz Kid! I think this one can take this blog farther...wait I am not riding coat tails! The Wiz Kid is cooler not just in looks and personalities, but all around...and I have never even met the guy! Well...good luck...original Wiz Kid...you should've went to sports games with me!

That's all I got today. Good luck to all teams playing today and good job to baseball. Tomorrow we will have results and Quincy autopsy photos! A must read tomorrow...so do it!! Alright, have a nice day...I'm gone!

WHAT'S GOING ON?

We have this holiday today....no school...no work....nice weather...why are you even reading the blog today? I was going to walk another 5k this morning...but I kinda slept in...in fact I am still tired as I am writing this...but I'll try my best...

BLAST FROM THE PAST

That's what it seems like. Tabb baseball takes on an ol' enemy....Southampton...today! Who cares if it is a holiday! We got games to play! It has an a hot minute since we have played Southampton. Today, we'll find out how they are doing and if they hold any old grudges against us. I wonder who won the last Tabb-Southampton Bay Rivers baseball game? I know who is going to win the game today....the more prepared team...what do you think I would be biased and say Tabb? When have I ever done that? Tabb has pretty impressive credentials, there is Patrick Corbett: Player of the Year, the about 5 game winning streak that got them here, being the district tournament winner, and Phiefer is always one to watch out for. As for Southampton...I do not know much about their accomplishments, but considering they made it this far their accomplishments must be as good...or maybe not as good...but pretty good. So Southampton welcome back to the Bay Rivers. Soon you'll find out why you left in the first place..besides being super far away. Tabb baseball has been doing things no one has seen coming and they are sticking to that agenda. Team of the year! Who else has Lefty Lyons, the Keg, Clutch Corbin, Barbershop, and all the rest...and also Baggett . We're haviing our own cook-out at Tabb! It's today at 4:30. What is more American than a federal holiday and baseball? A Tabb win!

POPCORN'S PICKS

532734df01e8__1278869827000
The baseball season is not over yet. There are games Popcorn can still pick and he is pretty good with baseball...only 10 losses this season. I feel he knows what he is doing, so now Popcorn will pick the entire regional tournament for us...

Tabb 100   Southampton 0

Park View 5    York 3

Powhatan 12   Eastern View 6

Courtland 7   Jamestown 2

SEMIFINALS

Powhatan 9    Park View 2

Tabb 100    Courtland 0

FINAL

Tabb 100   Powhatan 0

Popcorn always makes some bold claims. I wonder if any Tabb team will ever have a game score of 100 to 0...this could be Popcorn's lucky week!...(But I wouldn't put my money on that score!)

COACH RYAN

14754_200932959831_609289831_3994972_2011823_n
Yes, it is true that Coach Ryan is our Waldo. How else was he going to be able to hide from the cops? It was working out great when other people started to dress up like him, but soon the FEDs caught on. Since soccer started he wanted to help out, so broke out of solitary condiment, got no disguises, and gave us his advice. We do not know his whereabouts, but we have his advice for the soccer teams entering regionals...

"You will enjoy good health; you will be surrounded by luxury. I have, but has to do with selling dru-"

Okay, once again that is enough CoachRyan! Look for him at games...I think he is back being Waldo. He read a book that show him that was the best disguise to go with!

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Tabb baseball - for starting a streak and winning the district tournament titleshowing all naysayers!

Allison Harmatz - for making the onlly 2 goals in the district tournament semifinal game advancing the team to the finals

Girls track - for winning regionals after winning districts and now heading to states!

the Heckers - the only brother and sister combo to be named Alll-District in boys and girls soccer

Honorable Mention: Nick Curren - for redeeming yourself by appearing on one of our promo videos!

Did I miss anyone? Let it be known.

Well, that is about all I have for today...much is coming up this week...so many games, the Wiz Kid is here, we have Quincy autopsy photos coming up...yep we found something interesting...foul play? Just wait and see!...well anyway, today did not just laze around, soak up rays, and watch Tabb baseball...remember those service men and women who served or are serving this country sacerficing so much and making it possible for everyone to live the way they do today. That is what Memorial Day is all about. ...So who wants to start the USA chant?... Keep tat all in mind and have a great day.

OFFICIAL START OF WEEK

Monday is the start of the school week, but Sunday is the real start of the week...though there is no school on Monday this week...you know what I mean...and soon there will be no school on Monday for a long time, but for now it is still in session and so are sports, so let's get to it...

SCHEDULE

MONDAY: Baseball vs. Southampton at 4:30 pm

TUESDAY: Girls soccer AT Chancellor at 6; boys soccer vs Courland AT Spotslyvania High at 7

WEDNESDAY: Possible baseball game?

THURSDAY: Possible soccer games?

FRIDAY: Another baseball tournament championship?

SATURDAY: Possible soccer championship?

Okay, further in the week is not too clear, but may shall be revealed as the week presses on. Hey, school isn't out yet! We still got things going on! Please keep up and bring support...the teams need it now more than ever!

WHO SAID IT WAS A HOLIDAY?

Sure, Memorial Day is tomorrow...sure there is no school...but who said we still can't have games? Memorial Day is an American day...and what is more American than baseball? Screw watching it on TV bring the cook-out to Tabb High! Federal holidays do not stop our team! Tabb plays an old rival...Southampton. Remember those days when we use to travel all the way out there for a game?! Remember the paper mill?!...Gross, I know! Southampton are the Indians and they actually have a guy dressed up as one at games...I don't know how they got away with it...or if it still goes on...he always gave me hi-fives and we all know I love those! Anyhow, it will be quite a reunion. Welcome back to Tabb southampton...miss us? Let us..but not by winning please! The first game we play each other at in 2 years is more than just a game, but a regional showdown. The Bay Rivers is as good as you remember it! I do not know Southampton is at baseball, but Tabb has been the hot news lately! Being #5 and winning the district to make it to regionals. We were the laughing stock of the district and now we're laughing at the other teams (What up Poquoson?), but we must keep our giggles a bit soft...there is still a lot more baseball to be played! If you need something to do this Memorial Day than head to Tabb High to see baseball down right. For this holiday celebration we'll have many stars like Captain Corbett, Lefty Lyons, the Keg, No-Hit Norris, the Piped Phiefer, and the whole Tabb baseball team...they're the Redeem Team! The is streak still a-going...tomorrow at 4:30...be there...or enjoy celebrating the holiday in a different fashion.

END OF AN ERA?

I never really touched on this, but York and Lafayette are out of our division. We will still see them during the regular season still, but it is the post season where the real games happen. Hopefully, we'll make it back to the play-offs with football...and basketball we will see them in the district tournament, but then after that...no more...which maybe good. Us and Tabb have been rivals since like '72...does this reduce the rivalry? As for Lafayette, the rivalry may not be as big, but the games are always heated. Is this what happens when Paul Wheeler gets fired?...that blog position is still opened for ya man! ...Perhaps this is not that huge of a deal. They are only out of our division for football and basketball...and it may help us and them in the post...but still it feels incomplete...it's been so long....change, never been a fan...so good luck in the fall and winter York...playoffs will not be the same or as epic. From what I hear D-3 is pretty easy, look at Poquoson, so when is Tabb making it to D-5...then again as I think about it...we're good!

MEYERS AND PHILLIPS

Yes, Meyers is back! She did our Tiger TV promotion/ study abroad Paris trip and is now back at Tabb ready to graduate. So the premiere Tabb movie review team is back! Today we do not really have a sports film...but a French one...she was in the country for like 2 and a half months! So here is what we think of te French film 'Amelie'

Phillips: 'Honestly, I do not quite see the hype.  It was just some weird artsy foreign film. It something I suspect from the French. French people are weird.'

Meyers: 'Amelie is a magical delightful film. That is humorous, kind hearted, and imaginative. It shows all helping others is beneficial and what it can lead to it. It is inspiring and always seems leaves a smile on your face. I found myself not wanting the picture to end. I wish I could have met Amelie and take pointers from her. The best part is the film shows that no matter how you search for it- romance can appear in any form.'

Yeah, seems like Meyers was heavy influenced with her stay in France, but still it has been a long time since we've done this...so here we are! Welcome back to the states Meyers....nice to have you back.

Well, nothing is going on today...so enjoy it...and the rest of the long weekend...see you tomorrow at the game...maybe...I'll be going...later!

AHH....

I do not know if I have that much today. Everything is stretching out and many sports have ended. We still have a few, but they don't play everyday...so bare with this blog...I'm trying!..And it's Saturday! Who really reads this thing on Saturday?!...How about any other day? I do not have too much, but I'll make d0.

SOCCER ALL-DISTRICT HONOREES

While I was gone both boys and girls soccer teams ad All-District selections chosen. Which one will I announce first?...well the girls all-district names were posted first...so it's only fair. Al-District Girls Soccer Players from Tabb include:

FIRST TEAM: Bri Jasenak, Sydney Omweg, and Diana Kinney

SECOND TEAM: Chandler Wingreen, Hayley Mills, and Kelsey Hecker

HONORABLE MENTION: Hollie MacDonald and Lexi Williams

Good job to all! And if you want a full list go here: http://weblogs.dailypress.com/sports/highschool/bayriversblog/2011/05/warhill_nets_big_honors_on_all.html

As for the boys...

FIRST TEAM: Jacob Mader and Sean Christein

SECOND TEAM: Reily Maw, Robby Edmonds, Nick Hecker, and Tyler Evans

HONORABLE MENTION: Chris DiOrio and Adam Parker

Congrats to all you guys as well. If you want the full list go to: http://weblogs.dailypress.com/sports/highschool/bayriversblog/2011/05/jalon_brown_of_grafton_was.html

Did you notice what I did?...Both Heckers made it! Soccer must be genetic!...One did make 1st team and the other 2nd...but it doesn't matter!  With all these All-Disitrict announcements means that pretty soon All-Blog selections will be announced. Keep an eye out for it.

TABBIES OR TABBERS?

Which one is it? What are fans from Tabb called? Together everyone makes up the Orange Army, but about individually? What do you call a single Tabb fan? I have always debated between Tabbies or Tabbers. Tabbies...sounds a bit juvenile and absurd...and Tabbers...sounds a bit too formal or as if it has a function to it. I believe both take on a definition of their own. A Tabbie is a Tabb fan who can visually been known for it. They paint for games, wear Tabb apparel, cheers very loudly, maybe even play a sport for the school. A Tabber is fan that no one knows likes Tabb. They go to games, but no one is sure who they are rooting for. Tabbers never let it be known visually or verbally their support for Tabb. I do not want to different names for fans...despite the difference. I guess we should let Tabbies and Tabbers stay, but now we need just an ordinary name for a Tabb fan. A group is Orange Army. That is staying, that name is sweet! Anyone have any ideas? Or should we just chose between Tabbie or Tabber, despite the differences, and find a name? Calling all Tabb fans...what do you call yourselves? Let's make a decision already...and bring Tabbies and Tabbers together!

Red
I have mentioned this intrigued fellow before...it's Red (the beard is still gone...thank goodness!). Red is a good friend of mine who lives all the way down in deep heart of the south known Alabama (Sucks for him I know.). There has been a lot of disasters around him, not only in his state, but around it. Red has been fine and not hurt...but others are not as fortunate. He came up the idea of going around aiding people. He has Red hair and is traveling a-CROSS the country, so he called his  help trek the Red Cross...but found there is already an organization with that name, but he is still helping out. You can be like Red and the Red Cross and do the same. Countless number of tragedies have occured over the past months from Alabama to Mississippi to Missouri to Oklahoma to Japan. Damn Mother Nature what is up? There is much that can be done, you can always donate: http://american.redcross.org/site/PageServer?pagename=ntld_main&s_src=RSG000000000&s_subsrc=RCO_NewsArticle ...but not everything has to be about money. I am sure you can donate materials that are need and such just search around the website or go the local Red Cross chapter...I think in Grafton..the Salvation Army in Hampton..or check out churches programs. You never know when a disaster like this can hit us and we're going to need help. So we may not all have red hair like Red, but all our blood is that color...which means we are all the same and need help one another.

You know I do have the schedule of games this week...but I'll save it for tomorrow...if not I'll have nothing...and I usually put the schedule up on Sunday anyway. We have a lot this week, so just because everything is coming to an end doesn't mean we are...yet! Much in store...just wait for now and have a great Saturday and Holiday Weekend! See ya!

I'M BACK...WHAT DID I MISS?!

I was only gone for a day, but so much happened. I knew I was going to make it back in time to write on Friday...on my trip I did not have many opportunities to write (Boy, I wish cars had wi-fi!), but I still made it. I have said it before better late than never, turns out that applies to me as well! I never worried about receiving the scores. Love Tabb Soccer always delivers the goods and I have certain numbers in my phone who I can just send a message and find out the 411. I got all the news...it was good news/bad news...well all our teams are in regionals, so it's tragic...there are more game a-coming! As for a guest blogger? Honestly, you thought I was going to do that?! Out of that whole picture montage 2 were animals, 1 was a mascot, 3 weren't even in town, 1 has his own blog and 1 is dead! Of course I was going make it in time to write today! Let's quit this jibber jabber and get to it already!...okay, good news or bad news first?...

Well, I am not sure if we can define this as bad news...it's more unfortunate news. Jamestown girls soccer is always a challenge. The last time, before this game, we played them it was a win. I feared Jamestown was seeking revenge like we had with Grafton...and they were. But this was not full-out attack...the game went into overtime. It is my understanding it was a very physical game. I can tell the girls played to the best of their abilities...I mean it did go into the OT. Alas, not all games were meant to be won, still a grand job goes to the team. The only goal made was one that had some jazz on it...yep, Bri Jasenak got one in. Then, unfortunately, there were no more. The game ended up being 2-1, once again in overtime. So the team did not win the district tournament title, but theey are still heading to regionals. You know who else did not win the district tournament title? Tabb field hockey...and that was this year! I hope the future is as bright for this team! For now the whole Tabb community is proud and awaiting for what is next. What is next is a regional tournament game in Fredericksburg on Tuesday...so probably not a big crowd from Tabb are going to make it, but we will have you guys on our mind. For now good job once game...and maybe the Jamestown game will be different...when we play them a 4th time! (could that happen?)

This next news isn't actually good...but unbelievable...almost incredible. No one predicted this could happen...I don't think Popcorn even has this on his belt. Tabb baseball, who's last days of the season just looked dismal, won the district tournament title. They beat teams that did not win against all season, played very close games but always won, and set a goal and achieved it! It is a fantastic American tale! The title was last night at 7 against Warhill, a team Tabb has beaten during the season though the games have been close...but not this time. The Lyon King was pitching and made sure no one took over his kingdom! Jared Lyons had 12 strikeouts (my lucky numbers!) and also had a double and 3 RBIs, The Keg went 3-4, Cotton went 2-4, Sand Man went 2-4, and Barber went 1-4 with a 3-run homer! All that equals a 10 to 4 win for Tabb! The only thing the team had to do to stay alive was win and they did so! Hello district tournament title! Hello regional tournament! They are on a hot streak...watch for them in the tournament! Yeah, this is good news...and I heard the team learned how to have fun, which is good too! The celebration is still going on..but as Baggett said there is still a ways to go (not exact quote) and I always listen to Baggett! I do not have the regional tournament news yet, but will let it be known when I do! What makes this whole situation even better is...Poquoson is out! No 3-in-a-row state championship for them! Everyone knows only Tabb does 3-peats!

Some other stuff happened the other day...maybe a few people did not hear about...it was the regional track tournament. Boys...well weren't in it...but girls were...and were notice because they won the whole thing! It was a close one, but the girls put up a few better scores to beat King Gorge for first by 8 point...73 to 65. Tabb girls track in states? That's a surprise...NOT! A very good job to them! Kiara Porter won twice with the 400 meter dash and the 200...as for the other results...there are alot...so just look at this link: http://www.dailypress.com/sports/highschool/dp-spt-region-i-track-meet-20110526,0,3459701.story

It is well known I end each entry with a quote. I was just looking around and found out all these quote websites have a Doug Bagett section. I think it's our Doug Baggett...know any others? They all pertain to sports. Seriously I have found more than one site: http://www.great-quotes.com/quotes/author/Doug/Baggett ; http://thinkexist.com/quotation/we-ve-gotten-to-play-the-kids-that-haven-t-had-an/1540502.html ; http://www.quotesdaddy.com/author/Doug+Baggett ; http://www.quotesea.com/quote/otherthanthescorewebeattheminevery I searched my name and...nothing. Well, I am not quite on Baggett's level!

Well folks this is about it. Shouties saying good job to all teams who played while I was gone. I hope everyone has a good holiday weekend, hope everyone on the New York trip has fun...tell me about GaGa when you return...and I'll back tomorrow on time. Here's another lacrosse pic...later!

MY SECRET

What is it?...I'm leaving this afternoon and won't be back until tomorrow evening...so I will miss the district tournament title games. Hey, I have had a pretty good record for game attendance always!  I am allowed to miss one game...even if it is a really big one. I will have the results up tomorrow...except it will in the evening going into night...a little late...especially for a Friday!...But I will still have it! Don't give me a hard time...my absence has to do with college...so a little bit more important there!...Just because I am not there does not mean you can't...go in place...or just in general...just go to one of these games!

UNDERDOGS

or maybe it should be under-cats?! No one saw Tabb and Warhill in the district tournament finale...not even Popcorn! Both us and Warhill were never really taken seriously. We both had our struggles during the season and both must win to make it to regionals. Warhill keeps making a name for itself...they're not the same automatic win they use to. Sure...Tabb has beaten twice this year...wait one game was a tie...but still. That still means Tabb leads the series! Do not let that mislead you. York beat Tabb every meeting this year, but lost in the semis to them! Both Tabb and Warhill have much in common...the only difference is...this isn't the Warhill Sports Blog! I am going with Tabb with having the advantage! We have the Player of the Year, the Keg has played very nicely, Sandford has been too, the team has been working great together, and Baggett? Did somebody say Baggett? He is still around, of course! Tabb is showing why they were project #1 in the preseason...forget what happened in the regular season...that is over and this is now! Tabb is one win away from winning the district proceeding to regionals. The lion sleeps tonight and will miss out on the win. A close watch on Ben Phiefer, he may look under 5 ft, but he stands as tall as thousand men. It's #6 vs #5 an unlikely match, tonight at 7 at York come Tabb redeem itself and get what they deserve. Be there or be...actually I won't be there...so nevermind...

THE OTHER ONE

What is the other district tournament final game? It only concerns a team that we have heard about all season long. A team that does not need to redeem itself. Winning has been a hobby of theirs and tonight they'll add on to that with the district tournament title win! Girls soccer is what I am talking about! They have been quite a threat in the district...just all in around...really! We play Jamestown tonight. Jamestown, I believe, has only lost one game...and who beat them? Oh...was it Tabb? Remember Tabb only lost one game and it was to Grafton and Tabb got revenge in the semis? Yeah, Jamestown will have the same mindset...except revenge is not on the schedule tonight....Jasenak, Harmatz, Kinney, Baez, Omweg, Hecker, and pretty much all of the Tabb girls soccer team are! It will be a good show. The game will be played at the JCC Stadium up in Williamsburg. It is an away...but also a title game...so it sounds like it is worth the drive. This is Tabb girls soccer, it's nothing new! They are already known it is just time to add on to their accomplishments. They're going to be in reionals, so this won't be the last time to see them...but it is a title game...so it'd be a good time too. Jamestown is under attack again...witness it for yourself. Tonight at 6 at the JCC Stadium..be there...or if you are out of town, it's okay!

So those are the biggies. Sorry, I can't be there...but my spirit will be. In fact I am not sure how many will be at these games. The school Drama New York trip is on this weekend...not like everyone goes...just saying a few others cannot make besides me! I hear they get to see Lady GaGa during the Today Show...that is most definitely worth it! I rather see that than see Tech! I could discuss other things right now...like is moving to D-3, an upgrade or down grade...or does no one look at it that way! I'll miss our postseason York battles...and our Lafayette...actually they never make it due to forfeited games! Oh zing! Well, I should get packing already. Shouties wishing all teams playing tonight lots of luck. Bring that title home! I'll be at regionals...depends how far though! If I am not able to pst a entry tomorrow then there will be a guest blogger, but who?

You'll find out tomorrow...to end here is a photo of the Greatest Show with Nets...

THE GREATEST GAMES YOU'LL EVER SEE!

Went on yesterday. They were close, well played, and even not all of them were even won, but some much was on the line. Tabb got it down when it had too or tried it's absolute best to. After yesterday the entire district should know that Tabb means business. Here we come for the title games and soon after regionals.

THE BASEBALL BATTLE

That might've been the best baseball game I had seen all season. It was back and forth and back and forth which led to extra innings even. Tabb scored big first...okay not big...but scored first making it 2-0. Then York came back and got two runs in consecutive innings. Then Tabb got 2 more, but so did York. Tabb was able to get a 2-run led again and could finish the game with only 3 strikes...but York was able, yet again, got 2 and we were tied again, going into extra innings. In the extras Tabb again got a 2 run lead and this time when York went up to bat they only got 1 run in and 3 strikes. Making the final 7 to 6 Tabb! #1 is done! Chris Kegelman hit tremendously going 4-4 with a double and 2 RBIs, Corbin Sandford did as well, going 2-4 with a double and 2 runs. Also, Ben Phiefer has quite a future ahead of him. Do not let his size fool you. Yet again, the Piped Phiefer led the way home. The game was pretty intense and seemed as if York may get a lean victory...and some may say so literally! But Captain Corbett did his part and Lefty Lyons did his part too when it came to pitching. I told you York had it coming! We finally beat them again...it had bee such a long time! The baseball game was pretty packed. Many were there...like Mophead...guess what? He got a haircut! I saw the Southern Gentleman....many old baggettball cronies...it was a good game and day. Now Tabb must face Warhill on Thursday, I believe at home, for the district tournament title. Yep, Tabb did it, win every game in the tournament so far and soon who knows? Regionals? Our guys really shaped up. The Tabb from the beginning of the season is back...and on Thursday we are playing a team we have beaten twice. It's going to be an easy win...then again...that's what York thought!

SOCCER AND SUCH

I did not make it to the boys game, but the girls' was at York where I happened to be for the baseball...so it worked out great. Many were at the baseball game, but as for the girls soccer...do not  so much....or at least students...but hey, study for those SOLs kids! They're important! This game was important too...but not as important of course! Grafton is the only team to beat Tabb girls soccer this season. You think they forgot? Negative. Things did not look good starting out for Grafton scored the first goal...very early...but it was very early. Tabb was able to take control...go for a few shots which did not equal much...but then Harmatz launched one right in. It was suddenly tied. I cannot remember if Tabb got their 2 goals in by the first or one in each period, but both were scored by Harmatz and assisted by Bri Jasenak. As the game continued Grafton trying to respond, but nothing was happening. In the end Tabb beat Grafton 2-1 in the district tournament semis...which adds to the epicness I was discussing and the revenge factor. It was great game and with not that many people there I got 50 yard line seats, what a great view! Now it's time for our girls to play Jamestown once again. It is on Thursday also at 6:00 at the JCC Stadium in Williamsburg. That game decides who will be district tournament champs. Maybe a drive, but worth it, so make sure you can make it. We're going to see how strong that Jamestown Fort is built!

As for the boys, I am sure fewer Tabbies-or ers were there than the girls game...it was in Williamsburg...but boy did we miss a match! That game went into penalty kicks! During the game Seanaldo and Adam Parker (A-Park?) got 2 goals in, but so did Lafayette. Then came the fight for who would score next. Tabb came very close, but unfortunately never made a 3rd one in the game. The game was tied for so long the only way to end was penalty kicks. Tabb made 1...but Lafayette made 3...so both our soccer teams will not be in the district tournament final. A much well deserved round of applause for this team though. They could not play any harder. A game ending in PKs is a good one. Do not sigh I believe Tabb is still going to regionals. We are just finished with districts for the time being. I do not want to say goodbye to Dominant DiOrio, Seanaldo, Maw-some, A-Park, or anyone else on the team yet! There will still be games...I am right about this whole reginals thing...correct? Anyway, it sounded like an amazing game and I am bummed I didn't get to see it. Just save all your aggression for regionals....you're going, right?

SOFTBALL

Yes, we still have softball news, the all-district teams were announced and many familiar names on the list...

FIRST TEAM: Infield: Kayla St. John, Outfield: Kimmy Burrnette

Nobody made it on the 2nd team, but Honorable Mentions: Taylor Rue and Megan Murray.

Congrats and for full list go here: http://weblogs.dailypress.com/sports/highschool/bayriversblog/2011/05/new_kents_silver_yorks_oconnor.html

ALL-STAR AGAIN

I guess there are such things as all-star games in high school sports. I thought I just thought of the idea. We have the baseball state game and now the soccer state game, which two of our own will play in! Eric Swenson and Sean Christein are the chosen ones plus a few more from the BRD. Congrats to them both....so how many other state all-star type games are there? I have just heard about these...no field hockey?...no basketball?...no football?...When is the VHSL doing bowl games? When is our Tabb dome coming? Man, I have had so many great ideas I hate or them to go to waste! One day everything will take place and the genius behind the blog will finally be known! I am just ranting now! Good job guys!

DSC_1643
Oh snap! I have a boys lacrosse picture! mreynolds hooked me up with so many..much thanks goes to him once again...so I'll probably end each blog with a picture of some gender playing lacrosse! I have so much! I am about done now...good job to all teams that played today. Good luck on those SOLs kids. I could help you...bu I do not even know what's on those things!

Peace be with you.

EPIC LEVEL RISING

Seriously Tabb has had some epic sports days, but I think this one tops them all. Reasons being: all games being played today are in the district tournament semi-finals. That gives some importance to them. All the teams that are playing Tabb today have beat them in the regular season. Grafton is the only girls soccer lost, Lafayette was boy soccer's first lost, and York has beat baseball twice this season. There is a lot of history here. Will it repeat itself? Also, I know in baseball's situation, if they did not win they are out, season over! I do not think so many important games have been on the same day. It's ironic how similar all these are. You gotta make one. It all starts at 4 with....

BASEBALL

The team did not do as good as expected this season, but they are playing good now... which is better. Tabb goes on a run in the post...when it matters. The game is at York because they are a higher seed. Tabb played a higher seed last game and won. The higher the seed does not matter. I don't find York intimidating....who does? They are overdue for a lost this season...a Tabb lost that is. They are getting a little big headed it's time to bring this falcon down to Earth. Just recently announced Patrick Corbett is player of the year and who has him? Oh, we do! Also, keep an eye out on Ben Phiefer: the Little Giant! He proves size does not matter! No-Hit Norris was named 2nd team 3B and UTIL...two positions....okay utility is not an actual position...but it means we can use him for many things...and we will! York has had enough time on top. I'm getting tired of it myself. It's time they be brought down in a place where they are familiar with. York wears blue and will be blue after today (they are already in regionals). The report of Tabb's death was an exaggeration. Don't believe me? Come see baseball prevail once more. Today at York at 4, evermore evermore (wait, they're falcons not ravens!). Be there or be lame.  The season is not over until we say it is!

POPCORN'S PICKS

59d88091e627__1304112735000
I guess Popcorn does look a bit embarrassed. He has been doing so well this season. No one saw this coming (have you seen his previous season picks?). Well the picking season is not through with just yet. He has tournament picks. This games mean more. I hope the status does not intimidate him. Let's see now!

Jamestown 7    Warhill 3

Tabb 100   York 0

Okay, so there weren't that many picks, but it helps increase his record...or decrease. Anyway, here it is...think you can do better? Let it be known!

GIRL SOCCER & GRAFTON

In what maybe the most significant game of the entire day, Tabb girls soccer plays Grafton tonight at 7:15 at Bailey Field. It's significance is due to...well first...it is Grafton. That just adds a little bit more to postseason games when we face our ol' rival. Another part that makes his game almost on another level is the only lost girls soccer has is from Grafton.  And every report I have heard from that Grafton game is they were just lucky to get a win. Luck is out my friends! Tab never has it, we just good! Grafton you owe us a win!  We have not forgotten! I know is this is SOL week, but not everyone has tests everyday, so if you have the day off tomorrow celebrate it with going to the soccer game tonight. We need support there. We need a Orange Army (Who could take down the Clippper Crew by the way!). We need Tabbies and Tabbers there! And you can go make it to both the baseball and this game, same place, but different times, so you can make both! I am awaiting to see what B-Jazz and Hawk Harmatz and The O and F-bomb and the rest of the team has in store. It's more just a thing. It's Grafton a team we have not beat this season...it's on our To Do List and we will be marking it off tonight! You should come see it. Once again, it is at York High at 7:15. Let's color it orange and black! Be there or be lame!

BOYS SOCCER

Boys soccer is the only team that is not at York High or that close...up in Williamsburg. Those Williamsburg teams are tough. They have always been a challenge. Lafayette was the firs team to beat Tabb...but it is not some huge win...no blow-out by any mean...like a single goal. Similar to all the games Tabb has unfinished business and that is to beat Lafayette. The school is named after a French guy and we know how those people deal with surrendering, extremely well, let's hope they live up to that! Although, Marquis de Layfayette is pretty tough dude and much credit should probably go towards the French for the Revolutionary War...but that time is long gone! Thanks for that Marquis, but the school named after you does not get the same respect. Rams...lambs...goats...sheep...whatever farm animal the school is, it does not matter. Tigers kinda overpowers all...not just in mascot comparisons, but in sports. Lafayette got lucky the first time, but do not worry I do not see that happening again. I'll put money on it...actually I do not want to start a gambling thing on this blog! Hey, Dominant DiOrio,  No-Mercy Mader, The Maw, Sutton the Sinker, Virus Vicroy, Real Time, and the rest of the time is ready for tonight. If you can go then do so and share the news once you know it. I have a feeling it will be good. I have a feeling we will be mounting a ram head on the wall tonight! 7:15 at Wanner Stadium...be there or be lame!

CHAMPS

DSC_1928
Girls lacrosse did not win their first game in the tournament, but their 2nd game was against Williamsburg, who again, they beat 11-9. At the end they finished 3rd in the state! Boys I assumed did as well! 3rd is good...at the end of sporting events they give out gold, silver, and bronze. Anything after 3rd does not get anything! We are bronze, which just looks like a dark gold, which is great! Speaking of great, great job to both teams! I will have more pictures up soon, throughout the week, and this team not just of the girls...the boys will have some love too!

PLAYERS OF THE YEAR

boys & girls lacrosse - for finishing 3rd at the state tournament

Robby Edmonds - for making the only goal in the first game of the district tournament advancing the team to the semis.

Ben Phiefer - for bringing in the winning run at the Grafton district tournament game for Tabb.

Girls soccer - for giving Jamestown their first lost!

Did I forget anyone? Let it be known!

Okay, well the epicness is going off the scale. Please try to make a game! Pretty soon there will be no games to go to...or blog to read! Don't miss out! These games mean a lot! Shouties wishing all teams playing today good luck x 10! I hope to see many at the games today! Have a good day until then!

Peace be with you.

BACK TO THE OL' GRIND!

Oh, it's Nick Curren the guy who talked bad about the blog! Don't worry he actually likes it now! Trust me! Nick is also an athlete. He does track and other running sports. Get use to Nick on camera, he will be a Tiger TV anchor in the fall! Now it will be even better...maybe...joke! Well thanks Nick for the promo! Anyway, after a nice break yesterday with some tennis learning, I am back with new results from...about 2 days ago..but it's juicy stuff! Don't be fooled! Yesterday's break was good. That's what breaks are...and pretty soon we'll be taking a very looong break! For now there is...

THE LYON KING

It's Lyons isn't it? Whichever, Jared Lyons held the mound on Saturday for about 5 or 6 innings, only allowing 1 run. Grafton was not ahead for Patrick Corbett hit a homer in the first. I actually do not know who scored first...I came by like the bottom of the second. The 1-1 score stood for most of the game. There is this one guy on the baseball team you might over look. Just look down...he's kinda short. It's the Piped Phiefer! I did not know he was that little guy! He goes by Ben and maybe short...but trust me he is Big Ben! Ben Phiefer ran into home plate with the winning score! He made it 2-1. The game went into bottom of seventh and all they had to do was get an out. Corbett was on mound now. The inning was the most heart pounding, nail biting, breath taking, and stressful inning of the game if not ever! An ut was earned, but then some balls were thrown, a guy made it to first, another guy made it on a base, an over thrown ball, a Grafton coach kept on complaining (actually the entire game!), and we just couldn't get another out. A Grafton player on was stealing 2nd and the ball was thrown there, but there was a guy on 3rd who started to make it to home. Baggett and everyone else was yelling. The whole thing seemed like a bad decision, but the ball made it to Barber in time and he tagged the batter before the batter tagged the base. It was out #3! The game was over! The ending was exciting...maybe a little too much..but it's over now! And the baseball season is not over! Tabb lives on! Grafton is out (they maybe already be in regionals.)! At least out of the tournament...out for now! That's good news for now! Next game Tabb faces another ol' enemy: York. York has beaten Tabb every meeting this season...but so had Grafton! I am not worried. They maybe #1...but I hear an overrated cheer in the future. Tabb is back...we're were #1 in the preseason...and showing it now! It's Tabb to cage the falcon tomorrow. I am not sure what time the game is, but it's at York! This may not be the game of the week...but up there. Stick around for news...and try to make it to witness a long-awaited York lost!

MARTY SIGHTING

100_1000

Marty was there catching the action. It looks bright in the picture because the sun was out and it was pretty hot. I got a small sun burn. Marty wears a hat...well it's nice on a sunny day and he has to protect that bald spot! I do not think this is our last sighting yet....I'm sure he'll be at some games tomorrow...until then we got him now...more on Marty later!

FROM GOOD TO BAD

news. It never seemed too promising or hopeful for  Tabb softball on Saturday. They went up to play the #1 seeded team while we were #8. The softball team has had many outstanding victories during the season and was hoping there would be another one...but sadly not so. However, it was not a huge blow-out. For playing the top seeded team Tabb put up a good fight. New Kent took up the game only 9 to 5. It was a good fight...but not a win. This means that the softball season is over. If you never made a game, it is your fault, and is too late now. Now we must be say goodbye to the girl in the plastic mask Kayla St. John, Rockin' Rue, Mur the Blur, the Beamer, the Bomber, Electric Ewton, and the whole team. I was the first talking about how great this was and I hope it brought the team much from attendance, motivation, and news spreading. The good news is I do not think many people are not leaving the team, so next year we'll have the same team...almost. For now the time will be on a hiatus. Enjoy it softball. I can't wait until next season...when New Kent will the one ending season early! Great job to everyone involved.

LACROSSSSSSSSSSSSE

Sorry the finger stayed on the S for a little long. It took me awhile to find these results, but I managed to do so. Both boys and girls made it to the state tournament. I was very eager for the tournament It was an opportunity for another state title to be brought Tabb again! I did not make it to Richmond (kinda far for a club sport...no offense!). I said Saturday if anyone knew the results to comment. No one ever did...I looked up the results and I realized why....both teams did not actually win. Boys played Roanoke and lost not in overtime or double overtime...but triple overtime, 8-9! I should've went to see that game! The next game they played was Grafton (I guess they lost too.) and Tabb get vengeance and won 6-4! Hey, Tabb went 1-1 at the tournament and I guess Grafton went 0-2....so good news there too! As for girls they lost to South County 9-7, it was close at least. I did not see any 2nd game for them. So no state titles, but very grand jobs on both team's behalf. The season is over now...but it was a pretty good one. From winning seasons to championship games to championships. Farewell the Red Raider, Dynamite Dana, Havoc Harvey, Alexander the Great, the Brick, the Sizzler, and everyone both teams! Great season! Next year will be the state title season! Calling it now!

BASEBALL ANNOUNCEMENT

Yep, we are back to baseball for the moment. All-District teams were announced. York dominated, but we got 6 spots and the biggie: Player of the Year. Here is what we have...

1st Team: P: Patrick Corbett, OF: Chris Kegelman

2nd Team: P: Jared Lyons, SS: Patrick Corbett, 3B & UTIL: Cody Norris

Player of the Year: Patrick Corbett

Hey, didn't I call Corbett being named Player of the Year...okay me and everyone else! But still! For the full list go: http://weblogs.dailypress.com/sports/highschool/bayriversblog/2011/05/york_high_dominates_allbay_riv.html. Congrats to all who made it.

I am still shaken from this weekend...Macho Man dying. I first heard about this on facebook where someone wrote rip macho man...shamelessly I thought it referred to a member of the Village People. I thought it was the Construction Worker! Then I found out in the paper the next morning...I felt embarrassed. I am sorry Macho Man. Not only great wrestler, great beard guy, and actually started out as a baseball player. RIP Macho Man...sucks going out having a heart attack while driving! Anyway, good job to all on the news I reported! Big day tomorrow boys and girls soccer  and baseball semis in the district tournaments! It will be an epic day for Tabb sports! Be there or be lame...

Peace be with you.

Okay, we are doing something very special for our quotes....it's Marty O'Brien quote week...which are just quotes from his blog...but Marty O'Brien has been around forever in the Bay Rivers..so you get a quote week for that! Congrats!
