Marquis Childress Shines!

PA228603 The battle between Bay Rivers District foes ends up being relatively one sided. The Homestanding Lafayette Rams, who after a couple of subpar seasons (by Rams standards anyway), are on pace to return to the Region I playoff scene. A win against the Grafton Clippers virtually assures the Rams a first round playoff game.

The 38-21 final score is fairly indicative of the evening our Packers endured. The Rams used a punishing ground attack mixed with just enough passing to keep the Pack off balance. The great news on the evening (if anything good comes out of a loss) was the emergence of Junior RB Marquis Childress (#16). Marquis scored three times on the evening and accounted for the 2 point conversion after his second Touchdown. Marquis is a shifty, very quick RB. As always Demonte McClary continued his hard running ways. I love the way this Senior runs the football. He runs like he's angry and refuses to be brought down. I mean flat out REFUSES to be taken down on the initial hit. I can't blog about this game without throwing a shout out to Travon Tynes and Zach Emerson, both Linemen played another great game. The evening was tempered with what initially appeared to be a serious knee injury to Senior QB James Wrenn after a short gain on an option play. He was helped off the field and sat on the bench until the end of the game. Praying that James is back to speed this week.
