Coal is our friend! (New Kohl's 30% Off Code)

Kohls

Editor's Note:

Please note that what I asked Jerrito to write was an article letting Savvy Shoppers know about a great new coupon for KOHL'S! Apparently he misunderstood me on the phone and thought I meant "coal". I have no idea why he would think I would ever ask him to write about natural energy sources, but then, I've never really understood the guy anyway.

Savvy Shoppers who have a Kohl's Charge Card can use coupon code NOTEBOOK30 to get 30% off their order, then double up and use coupon code MVCFREE4U to get free shipping too!

Coal is our friend!

I have to admit, I was a bit surprised when Mayor Fish of Crazy Town Deals called and asked me to write an article on coals for the Savvy Shopper. I mean, I don't know a heck of a lot about the subject. But what the heck, he's asked me to do stranger things. So here goes...

The word "coal" comes from an old English term meaning "mineral of fossilized carbon". What that is I do not know. So we'll move on to the next paragraph...

When I was a kid, coal was used in a threat apparently heard by millions of children. "Be good or you'll get a lump of coal under the Christmas tree instead of presents." I was always scared of this, because I did not realize at the time that coal was actually pretty valuable stuff. I looked it up and coal goes for about $60 if you get the good stuff (at least 12,500 btu's according to Wikipedia) you can make a few bucks. I can't really tell you what a btu is, but I figure that my mishebavior as a child could have been considerably more fruitful if I had known this. More importantly, pizza cooked using coals is absolutely delicious.

Apparently the Chinese (first at everything important it seems) have been using coal since about 1,000 BC. The Industrial Revolution made coal more affordable and it became a major source of energy aroung the world. I remember as a child thinking "these black jelly beans taste like coal". My history with coal was never good, to be honest.

Anyway, I guess I will end this still wondering why in the world Mayor Fish would ask me for an article on something I know so little about. To be honest, coal just isn't my thing.
