Wedding trends can be costly
Weddings are expensive! This we all know (or have learned as we began the planning process). Just mention the word “wedding” and dollar signs seem to flash into every vendor’s head. And with the average wedding in the US costing nearly $27,000 it’s easy to see why parents today are often offering their children a smaller lump sum to elope or have a small destination wedding instead of the big shindig!
Used to be a church, a minister, some flowers and a cake and bam…you had a wedding. With the
introduction of new trends like photo booths, chocolate fountains and candy bar stations; it’s easy to see the figures ticking up with every new idea. Brides are now spending a small fortune on second dresses for dancing at the reception, save the date cards, specialty lighting for the dance floor, monogrammed aisle runners, etc. Not to mention the thousands spent on late night after-parties and day-after brunches! It’s easy for the budget to lose control very quickly. So don’t get carried away with all the trendy wedding “extras” out there. Chances are your guests won’t remember the fancy welcome basket you prepared or the pricey favors you offered as a remembrance of the event. They are there to celebrate your marriage and wish you well…of course an open bar and yummy cake will always be appreciated!
Weddings are expensive? Tell me about it! I just got married recently and now my bank account is in depress..
For all of you young couples - please remember, no one will remember how beautifull the flowers were, and what a great sense there was in the bathroom.. Go for simple!
