New Year of new choices for brides

So you got engaged over the holidays…congratulations! Now begins the deluge of information that is bound to come your way the first time you mention to anyone that you are getting married. There will be friends and family offering advice and opinions. And then there will be wedding vendors vying for your attention (aka…money). Lots of wedding vendors, who will offer a myriad of choices and offerings to make your wedding special.

Don’t get sucked in by the hype. Yes, weddings are special and you can get creative and have fun with the planning process and implementation of all your ideas, but you don’t have to get carried away. Yes, a great band or DJ can really set the mood for a fun party, but do you really need that thousand dollar lighting package to illuminate your wedding monogram on the dance floor? And
yes, a professional photographer is worth the extra bucks, but do you really need to rent a photo booth just so all your nieces and nephews can waste rolls and rolls of film sticking their tongues out at you? I could go on, but you get my drift.

Wade your way through all the fluff of wedding extras and spend on what’s important to you and what really makes you happy. Choose the stuff you’ll remember, and skip the frivolous ideas created by those looking to suck every last dollar out of the bride and groom.
