Boys in the bridal shop!
A growing number of brides with independent minds arebucking the standard “groom can’t see the wedding dress” statute and (to the horror of some mothers) are bringing their grooms along with them to help select the wedding gown. Once a sacred “girls only” store, the bridal shop is now fair game for men including fathers and grooms.
To each their own…if you want your groom’s input on the dress selection, more power to you! But,
keep in mind, not every bride shopping for a bridal gown will be excited to see a guy in the viewing area. So if you bring your guy with you it might be polite to let the shop know when you schedule your appointment. You should also warn your groom that he needs to be on his best behavior and respect the sensitive nature of the environment. There may be a girl behind the curtain in front of him waiting in only her bra and panties and she may be a bit uncomfortable with his presence so
just make sure he’s aware of his surroundings and is willing to step outside if any tension arises.
He too may be a tad uneasy in the ultra-feminine environment, so make sure it’s something he really wants to do and it isn’t your way of forcing him to be part of the wedding planning process!
