Don't let wedding plans take over your life
Sure, it’s an exciting time. You just got engaged and get to plan the wedding of your dreams. There are appointments to make, dresses to fawn over, cakes to taste and parties to celebrate. But the highs of the planning stage can also lead to let-downs after the event has come and gone.
You might spend the better part of a year focused on all the details of staging the perfect engagement party, bridal shower, rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony, reception and honeymoon and then… Poof! It’s all over. Some brides go through a bit of depression after the wedding because they are so engaged in the aspects of this one event , they forget what it is really supposed to be about: The coming together of two people to celebrate their love and commitment to each other. And that is not a one-day affair. It’s a lifetime.
So enjoy your engagement and your wedding planning process, but don’t get so consumed with it that you forget what’s important in your everyday life. Remember to focus on what it’s really about….the marriage. If you look forward to your new life as a wife and not just your role as the bride, you’ll carry the excitement over to your post-wedding life and won’t be so disappointed that the wedding is over.
Men know where they were born, not where they shall die.
