We’ve all seen the collection of hideous bridesmaid dresses in the movie “27 Dresses” and a few of you may actually have a closet full of monstrous looking gowns your friends promised you would be able to wear again. Nine times out of ten, that isn’t the case. Some bride’s logic is they don’t want the attendants to outshine her! Unless you are Pippa Middleton, chances are that isn’t going to
happen. All eyes are always on the bride. So why not choose a gown that is flattering to all your girls and actually could be worn at another function. She is shelling out a couple hundred bucks for this garment, (and countless other expenses for your big day) why not put her in something she really could get some future use out of.
Today’s selection for bridesmaids has improved greatly. There are actually some fashion-forward
styles that would complement many body shapes. A floor-length gown may not be as likely to be re-worn unless your bridesmaids have formal balls or events to attend, so why not choose a sassy
knee-length or tea-length dress that may be able to substitute nicely for a holiday party dress or even a frock that could be worn to another wedding or engagement party.
Better yet, bring at least one or two bridesmaids along when looking for their ensembles so they can have some input. Instead of arbitrarily deciding on it for them, give them a say. Yes, it is your big day and you ultimately have the last word, but they will appreciate it (and you) much more if you let them in on the process.
