In Honor of 1-11-11: Buy one get one free deals around town

Savvy Readers may have noted that I'm attempting a noble and necessary experiment with my family food budget - I am trying to hold the line at $50 a week for food for two.  I am already a fairly good penny-pincher and I do tend to cook from scratch.  Today I'm hunting out the best sales and will stock up on some items accordingly.  Next week, I'm looking for the lowest cost per serving foods I can find. More on that next week, but for now, let's get back to the BOGO:

The BOGO - 'Buy one, get one free' deals are flying fast and furious this week. There are a few Web sites that attempt to consolidate the offers for you:

Sampling of BOGO Web sites:

BOGOfetcher -  this site puts links to all the BOGO participating retailers on one page - pretty much the same thing as spreading out the sales circulars from your Sunday paper.  Useful in a pinch, but not as much fun as the 'Sunday hunt.'

CouponSurfer - has a range of offers and free samples, but not a whole lot in the BOGO category.

Ebates - presents all coupons in one listing, so you have to read each retailer's offer; not bad if you have time to kill, but not very efficient either.  Ebates.com does offer cash back rewards ranging form 1-30% of the amount you spend with the featured retailer.  I used this for some holiday shopping and got some cash back from spending with Barnes & Noble - sweet.

Now on to the actual BOGO deals this week - here's a sampling of what you can find:

Groceries

SavvyLeslie notes that this might be a really good time to shop Harris Teeter: there are BOGO's, 'buy 2 get 3 free' deals and Super Double coupon values.  All the items on sale are found in yesterday's Daily Press.  If you've left that copy on the coffee table at home and you're at work, you can sneak a peak at the listings by clicking the e-VIC HT link  I combined that search with some Sunday paper coupon clipping and here are the items I'm going to stock up on:

Kleenex facial tissue BOGO (plus I have a copuon for 50 cents off (which means $1 off) with any 3 - an item that my house really needs this week!

V-8 Splash Juice 2 for $5 just became 2 for $3 with this link to a coupon on the Campbell's site or with the same coupon found in the Sunday paper's coupon circulars; The $1 coupon is good for $2 through Tuesday.

HT Meal deal: Buy 2 Prego pasta sauces and get garlic toast, parmesan cheese, noodles and Pepsi for free - a $9.91 savings on items we would normally keep in stock at home. Plus, use the coupon found in Sunday's paper for Prego sauces and you will save an addition $1.20 with HT's double value offer.

Now, how about buy 1 get 2 free?

Harris Teeter small pack fresh chicken breast

Even beter, better BOGO - buy 2 get 3 free deals good through January 11:

Old Orchard Healthy Balance Juice

Chicken of the Sea 5 oz. Chunk White Albacore Tuna

Not a BOGO, but for e-VIC members: You can score Lean Cuisine entrees for $1.77;  Note if you just sign on to e-VIC today, you will NOT be eligible for today's specials; you will be an active member and eligible for next week's specials.

Are you using Kellogg's Special K products in a weight loss program? HT is running a special: Buy any 4 Kellogg's Special K cereals, bars or crackers and automatically receive one free - a value up to $2.50.  Use the coupons in Sunday's paper to add another $2 or more to your savings.

I'm headed out to the grocery later today and will report back just how much I spent and saved.

Vitamins

Walgreen's is offering BOGO promotions now through January 8 on select vitamin and supplement manufacturers. Click here for the online shopping link (free shipping on orders of $25 or more).  I'll be stopping in Walgreen's for the Centrum vitamins offer - $1.50 off my Centrum Silver purchase plus $1 coupon from Sunday's paper brings the total price down to $5.99 for 100 count.

Here's a better than BOGO pricing on fresh produce from Farm Fresh:

Ninety-nine cent deals on one pound bag of baby cut carrots, sleeved celery, iceberg lettuce and 8-10 ounce whole white mushrooms.  There are  pot roast and cream of celery soup on my week's menu plan!

Where did you see the Prego meal deal? That's a great deal!

This site is so great, saves so much time it’s FREE! I tried a similar site and got a free 30 day trial… but it did not have all the local stores like this site does.

I have known great bloggers and the one thing that distinguish them from other bloggers are their abilities to catch reader's attention. This, you're able to do effectively. Nice post!
