Ever since coach pitch and little league, but 5 years total for PHS

2.WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT SOFTBALL

I love the competition and it’s just really fun to me; but I also love how strong of a bond our team is every year.  No one knows how close we truly are.

3. HOW IS THIS YEAR’S TEAM DOING SO FAR?

I’m not playing any sports at JMU other than club and intramural ones.

6. DO YOU PARTICIPATE IN ANY OTHER SPORTS?

I’ve played volleyball all through high school also.

Daily Press: Poquoson's Tyler and Clavin top All-Region I softball team

Poquoson High's Catherine Clavin and Maggie Tyler earned top honors on the All-Region I softball team. Clavin, a James Madison University-bound senior, was selected by coaches as Player of the Year, while Tyler, a sophomore already committed to a full scholarship at Virginia Tech, was voted the Pitcher of the Year.

Tyler brings a 22-3 pitching record into the Islanders Group AA state quarterfinal game at Monticello at 7 p.m. today. Clavin batted .469 with 31 hits and 26 RBI during the 20 game regular season. She was a AA all-state selection last season.

Daily Press: Windham makes the right calls for Poquoson's state tournament-bound softball team

Though Nicole Windham has proven in the last two seasons just how important her role is to the success of Poquoson High's softball team, coach Colleen Duman doesn't mind heaping a little extra praise on her catcher.

Duman refers to Windham as the player on her roster she has "all the confidence in the world in." Perhaps that's the biggest reason Duman has entrusted Windham, a 5-foot-2 junior catcher who will help lead Poquoson (23-3) on Tuesday when it plays at Monticello at 7 p.m. in the Group AA state tournament quarterfinals, with the task of calling all of the Islanders' pitches this season.
