On Friday October 29th the Islanders traveled to Bailey field to take on the Tabb Tigers.
After a scoreless first quarter, The Bulls failing on their first chance inside the Tabb 5 yard line after a fumble recovery, finally broke the scoreless tie with a 1 yard plunge from Luke Hill after another Tabb fumble set them up deep. They had a chance to score again, but Michael Lutz's 40 yard field goal as time expired sailed wide right. After what many believed would be a blow out by half time, the Islanders clung to a slim 7-0 margin at the break.
In the second half, after both teams punted on thier first possessions, the Bulls scored from the Tabb 34 on a dash to the end zone by Cody Hutchinson. The extra point made it 14-0 Bulls. The Tigers answerd though, driving 55 yards, scoring on a 15 yard run by Andrew Junio to close the gap to 14-7.
From there, the Islanders had their way, dominating both sides of the ball. With 7:59 left in the 4th, Hutchinson broke free for a 55 yard jaunt to pay dirt. Seven plays into the next Tabb drive, Luke Hill scooped up a Tiger fumble and rumbled 40 yards to the end zone, with Tee McConnell delivering a crushing block to spring Hill free.
The Tigers last ditch effort ground to a halt when McConnell intercepted a Tabb pass with under 2 minutes to go.
Defensively, the Bulls were lead by Thomas Garris's 17 tackles. Jay Diggs followed with 13, many of which prevented long gains by the Tigers.
Poquoson's next game is Senior Night, Friday November 5th at home against New Kent. Game time is 7PM.
