Hutchinson leads Bulls by Nottoway in Region I semi's

Cody Hutchinson rushed for 216 yards on 11 carries as the Islanders avenged a playoff loss from two years ago, beating the Nottoway Cougars 27-6.
The first half was dominated offensively by PHS, outgaining Nottoway 209 yards to 98. However, The Bulls went into the break down 6-0, courtesy of a 68 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jonathan Coombs to wide receiver Joe Whitaker.
The second half was more of the same for the Bulls. After stopping NHS on the opening drive, the Bulls took only three plays to take the lead for good, with Hutchinson going 55 yards for the score.Michael Lutz's point after made it 7-6.
After a three and out by the Cougars, Hutchinson bbroke away on a 74 yard run that set up a 4 yard run by Thomas Garris two plays later. After the extra point Poquoson lead 14-6 and never looked back.
On the first play from scrimmage after the kickoff, Baxter Bristow stripped the ball from Coombs hands and returned it 7 yards to the Nottoway 13 yard line. Four plays later, Jay Diggs plunged in from the one yard line. The point after was no good but the Bulls were now up 20-6.
Midway thru the 4th quarter, Hutchinson went 9 yards for his second touchdown of the night. The extra point made it 27-6, which was the final score.
The Islanders next take on James Monroe in the Region I final on Saturday November 27th at 1:30 PM at Poquoson Middle School. The winner earns a berth into the State Semi-finals on December 4th at the home field of this game.
