Menchville Wins District Tournament Title
For Dave Johnson's Daily Press story on the game, go HERE.
When a basketball game is close, it seems like the only part of the game that matters is the ticking down of those final minutes when victory can be determined by a last second shot. Of course I know it's the whole game that matters, all the effort, the coaching, the successful shots and strong defense that keeps each team in the game until the closing seconds. But with two and a half minutes left in Friday's District Tournament Final, Menchville was up 54-51 and Phoebus was looking for an answer. Menchville fans were on their feet as time ticked away - and no answer was found. The Monarch's edged their way to a 64-56 victory, earning 6 of their final 10 points on free throws.
HERE is the transcript of Lynn Burke's on-line play by play.
