Well some of us swim by ourselves, some of us swim on winter league teams, because we are not allowed to swim officially because that is against VHSL rules.

5. What is unique about the team this year?
The fact that the team is going to be such a young team and we will be very dependent on them to win the district.

6. What do you think of the team’s chances at a championship run this year?
Very, very big! we're hoping that the up-coming freshman and the hard work we have been putting into the team will lead to victory!

7. Besides swimming, what else do you enjoy doing?
hmm, i enjoying traveling and learning about new cultures

8. Who do you consider your role model?
it is hard to say, i don't think i have only one role model. i like to use every single person i meet as a model of what i do or do not want to be

9. What are your plans for college next year?
Radford is my number one right now, but i'm applying to a handful of other places also.

Jake Cave, KHS Baseball Player, Signs with LSU

Jake Cave, a highly touted baseball prospect, who is a pitcher and outfielder signed with LSU today. Jake's fastball hits in the low-mid 90's and he also brings a bat to the table. The Tiger's will be lucky to have him on the team next year!

Warrior Words with KHS Swimmer Morgan Stickle

Stickle
1. How often do you swim?
I swim on three teams but for kecoughtan we practice monday through friday for about 2 hours (starting November 15) and then will have meets once or twice a week (starting in December).

2. How many years have you been swimming?
I have been swimming pretty much since I could walk but I didn't start swimming competitively until I was 6, so I guess it's been 11 years now.

3. Do you play any other sports besides swimming?
Nope, I don't have enough hand-eye coordination for anything else

4. How has the team been preparing for the season ahead?
We haven't had any conditioning this year but most of the kids do other sports like track or soccer and have been doing conditioning for that, or they swim on other teams that have already started swimming. (for example my community league team has been practicing since september)

5. What is unique about the team this year?
I am not really sure how the team will be unique this year because we haven't started practices or anything, and every year is different.

6.What do you think of the team’s chances at a championship run this year?
We have a great chance at winning Districts this year and we have been close for the past few years, hopefully this year will be the one. We should also have a good number of swimmers qualify for regionals and even states this year.

7. Besides swimming, what else do you enjoy doing?
When i'm not swimming or doing homework, I like to go to church and Youth Group activities, hang out with my friends and just relax.

8. What are your plans for college next year?
I don't know exactly where I am going but I hope to go to The College of William and Mary to study English and Writing.

9. Will you continue swim after high school?
I don't know if I will swim on a college team but swimming is an excellent way to keep in shape so even if I'm not competing I will probably still swim just for fun.

Kecoughtan's playoff hopes and scenarios

File this under “And Pigs Could Possibly Fly.”

At the moment, despite a 4-5 record and being 2.2 points below the cut-off line in the Eastern Region Division 6 playoff scenario, Kecoughtan has a slim mathematical chance of making the playoffs. And when we say “slim,” we mean virtually non-existent … but still technically existent.
