Hampton rides a strong defensive effort in 14-3 win over Kecoughtan

Had Kecoughtan any production from its offense, it might have been an interesting finish. Instead, even after Fauntleroy's blocked punt set up the offense at the Crabber 16-yard line, all the Warriors could get was a Kyle Lawrence field goal.

Hampton's defense was so dominant that Kecoughtan took 21 snaps until finally picking up a first down with 2:03 left in the third quarter.

Kecoughtan Girls' Cross Country District Champs!

The Warriors finished fourth through seventh, thanks to Victoria Worrall (21:47), Ariel Smith (22:15), Justice Hosey (22:19) and Amelia Rowland (22:33).

Seeing that, it's no wonder that Kecoughtan's score of 33 was far better than Gloucester (59), Bethel (81) and Menchville (91), who will join the Warriors at the regional.

Woodside shuts down Kecoughtan 17-0

HAMPTON — — Woodside coach Danny Dodson might not want to hear such talk, but his team took a large step toward a first-round home game in the playoffs Thursday night.

Behind an outstanding defensive effort and just enough offense from the Wing T, the Wolverines pulled away for a 17-0 win over Kecoughtan at Darling Stadium. And in the process, Woodside (6-2, 5-2 PD) solidified its No. 4 spot in the Eastern Region Division 6 ratings.
