The NEW BET

I was very sad last Friday. Why, you ask? Well it was Julissa & Tigger's last day as the host of BET's 106 & Park show. I think they have done a GREAT job, picking up where A.J. & Free (the original hosts) left off.

BET held their "New Faces" contest a couple of months ago, where people had a chance to tryout to be a host of a BET show. That's where I first got the chance to see the now, new hosts of 106 @ Park, Terrance & Rocsi.

BET has been placing Terrance on many different assignments since that contest. I guess this was to ease him into his new job as the countdown host. But Rocsi, I haven't hardly seen at all since then.

Well, after getting home from work I tuned into 106 & Park. The new hosts were at the helm, and they also had new graphics and such, to change the look of the show. I have to say, I was very impressed with the new duo. Probably more impressed with Terrance, he held it down. I think Rocsi still has to get used to it, and stop calling every man "Papi."

The fact that u think Tigger and Julissa were good hosts is shocking. Julissa was so bad I was so glad when they gave her the boot. Terrance needs a little work but he'll be ok (AJ was lame when he first got on but got better)but Rocsi NEEDS TO GO! She's a beautiful girl and all but she gives me the same irritating vibe Julissa did. I guess BET just doesn't like black women! It's quite pathetic and insulting. And the Papi thing...HELLO honey, we're black! I know we can't get Free and AJ back out of all the BLACK people out there who have some type of journalism experience, BET is getting worse by the moment. I'm not even going to get on this new reality kick they are on. It is so ridiculous. Can you all just get one good, quality show? These reruns of In Living Color and The Wayans is pathetic. At least get another show to rerun every five minutes! Sorry did I get off topic?

A rapper that can't seem to stay out of jail and is very homophobic. The fact that they gave this brotha a reality show shows the kind of support and direction they wish to go in. It is an insult to have someone host a show or be the focus of a reality show and has hatred in their hearts and songs. As far as Keisha Cole is concerned, as much as I dislike Ashanti, she would have been a better choice for a reality show. At least we could see Nelly's fine ass from time to time. But, who the hell is this Keisha chick. BET really loves the one-hit entertainers. Her first cd, she has her own show. Man, how I long for the days when you had to earn you title and position.

I am so glad Julissa is gone!!!! Lame...There were days I didn't watch 106 & Park because I couldn't stand Julissa trying to turn the show into Latin Entertainment it got quite irritating to listen to her. Tigger was straight. I like the new vibe thats going on with Terrence and Rocsi. Give them a chance they will do great.

I couldn't stand Julissa she tried to be something she's not. It killed me everytime she would be the only one laughing at herself. People in the audience would make faces and be like she needs help.
One day Tigger was wearing a shirt with the Mexico flag on it I wanted to go off on a brotha. Julissa would speak her Spanish on there. One day she carried on a conversation in Spanish with somebody. BET sucks period. The shows, music, etc. I miss my After Dark though. A real Black person needs run BET because people running it now are doing a bad job. I like Rocsi and Terrance. Their doing a good job.

i'm not from usa but i've been watching 106&Park for years now. i think that aj&free were surely the cohost of 106 but julissa&tiger were pretty good too. As for rocsi&terrence, they're not so bad! so it's stupid to critisize just because Julissa or rocsi are not black. u'd better wonder if Bet is trying to rally both urban commnunity. 1st off Julissa is gorgeous and she was a awesome host. in the beginning she seemed to mess up her lines but you got to remember that she was hosting the "Center" and she didn't have a large crowd like 106. ON the Centre if she messed up she could say cut and try it again but 106 is different. I would say she MOst Def got more comfortable as the months went on and got into the lime light. She also done an awesome job at Spring Bling. Rocsi and Terrance are great hosts as well. and if Rocsi wants to call people Mami and papi let her its her mouth and people are acting like she dont say "sista" and shit. and another thing about blacks are missing the point about Latinos. they are just like us they live in the ghetto, talk like us and shop at the same places we do. the only barrier is the language and that is not their fault Spain invaded their countries. Has anyone gone To the DR? Puerto Plata is full of blacks but speak spanish so people dont get mixed up they are just like us. and Juslissa Tu eres mi amor, chao bella!! I think that Tigger was always good but julissa never quiet fit anyways. Now the newest hosts are just plan bad. Rocsi is really really bad. I am sure she is a nice person, but I feel B.E.T. is slipping on talent. 106& Park used to be slammin but right now.. it just seems like the director doesn't know what to do or where to go.

I think that Rocsi is a bit annoying and I don't think that this is her strength. She's pretty and seems to be a nice person, but I don't think she needs to be a host.

To be honest I have a hard time watching the show because of the way Rocsi speaks. She is incredibly ghetto when she speaks, and I fear for the kids that watch BET. I don't want my young family members to think it's ok to speak like that in any venue other than the street. Her accent really gets to me and just sounds fake and forced.

And as far as the African-Americans that are continually downing Latinos on this board, let's remember we have similar histories and created hip hop together, whether you like it or not. AND, remember that BET is a BUSINESS and it knows very well that Latinos love hip hop and watch BET. That is what marketing and selling your product is about people! So stop fighting about stupid things on these boards. We are a demographic that is sold to, whether you like it or not. Don't you want everyone to love hip hop? Why do you want it only to yourself??

Let's look at it for what it is, music that we all know and love. Spread the love!
