"I spent the night with Superman"

  Ok...... so what, I really didn't. But in a way I did. I just got home from the first public viewing of "Superman Returns." If you saw the movie, you might recognize the title of this post from the movie. I still have goosebumps all over me, from all the excitement I felt.

So..... where do I begin. 1st and foremost, I will try not to spoil anything for the people who did not see it. But I will probably drop a couple hints (hehe).

Before we event talk about Superman, lets talk about the previews. I saw a lot of great upcoming movies, but the 1st preview was for Spiderman-3. I damn near jumped out of my seat. My girlfriend was looking at me crazy. I could look over at everyone in the theater and see that their mouths had dropped, just like mine. So... there will definitely be the Sandman in the movie.... but I am not sure if Topher Grace (That 70's Show) will be him. They didn't make that too clear. But the movie is going to be centered around Spiderman and the black alien symbiote. Who later makes the villain, Venom.

OK OK OK... back to Superman Returns. Everyone who I thought would NOT do a good job in the movie, proved me WRONG!!! On top of that, Kevin Spacey & Brandon Roth were the PERFECT people casted as Lex Luthor & Superman. I felt like a little kid again, watching the original Superman movies. Spacey, really embodied the character that Gene Hackman made famous in the original movies. Roth had the uncanny looks of the late Christopher Reeve. It was great.

Superman returns to a world that had forgotten him, but still needs him. When they find out that he has returned, everyone is overwhelmed with joy. Lex Luthor is still hell bent on destroying civilization for his own good. Superman must overcome great odds, and rely on the old teachings of his father, Jor-El,in order to fix everything.

So that's it...... that's all I am saying. If you wan to know the rest, you will have to go see the movie.

Ok, maybe one more thing. There is a big SHOCKER in the movie. I swear I heard everyone gasp when this scene happens. This scene I am referring to, will change future Superman movies. Lets just say, Superman now has some other responsibilities other than saving the world.

Star Jones Reynolds to leave 'The View'

Star Jones Reynolds, the daytime diva of "The View," announced Tuesday that she will be leaving her position on the talk show in July.
"Something's been on my heart for a little bit, and after much prayer and counsel I feel like this is the right time to tell you that the show is moving in another direction for its tenth season and I will not be returning as cohost next year," she said on the air Tuesday morning.
Reynolds' departure comes amid speculation of friction between her and upcoming "View" co-host Rosie O'Donnell, who was hired to replace Meredith Viera.
Personally I find it ironic that Reynolds is leaving just in time to avoid any on-air squabbles with O'Donnell. And I may not be too far off either.
According to People magazine exclusively, Reynolds said, "What you don't know is that my contract was not renewed for the tenth season. I feel like I was fired."
Being a fan of the daytime talk show, I do not think this is a good change. What do you think? Are you a fan of O'Donnell and happy to see her return to daytime television? Get off your bum and on your BIKE!

Looking for something to do this summer? Tired of the same old bars and restaurants? Worried about driving all over the place?
Well, I have the answers right here.

Now, I have been a resident of this great area for 25 years, and I have recently discovered one of the most enjoyable things to do in the summer ... BIKE RIDE!! No, I don't mean motorcycle bikes, I mean real two-wheeled, pedals and chains and bells bicycles, like you rode before you had a car.....The best place to ride a bike is on the boardwalk at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. OK, here is what you do: Search through your garage, get in touch with your inner-child and pump up those tires. I guarantee it will be fun. Once you have your bike all ready to go, head down Interstate-264 towards the Oceanfront and you can park in any municipal parking lot. Now you want to get down there around 5 p.m. or so because it's still warm outside and you can catch a beautiful sunset.

Hop on your cool ride and head towards the bike path on the boardwalk to Mahi-Mah's restaurant on 7th Street. You can't miss it, there is a huge, multi-colored gazebo with, no doubt, a great band playing like Strictly Businezz or 10 Spot. You can pull over and listen to the music or keep going on the bike path towards the new statue of King Neptune on 31st Street. If you get hungry, you can stop at Catch 31, Timbuktu or Ocean Eddie's for a drink and a snack.

Don't have a bike to ride? Don't sweat it, you can simply rent a nice beach cruiser down on the boardwalk.

Do this activity at least once this summer and I guarantee you will have a great time, get a great wind-blown look for your hair and feel free as a bird (not to mention get a little exercise). Best of all, if you plan on staying out late and getting a little tipsy off an ice-cold Corona, you won't have to drive! Just be sure to have a designated driver, and try not to fall off your bike!

'Idol' McPhee admits to bulimia battle

Katharine McPhee, runner-up for "American Idol," has admitted to struggling with bulimia for five years.
According to People magazine, McPhee was throwing up at least seven times a day, which can be detrimental to the vocal cords.
In the new issue of People magazine, McPhee talks about seeking help with her problem following her audition for "Idol."
In October, McPhee checked into the Los Angeles's Eating Disorder Center of California, and stayed three months. She underwent group and individual therapy, six days a week. She tells People that she learned to gain control of her eating habits.
Her first single is scheduled to be released June 27.

Is Myspace the devil?

Well a lot of people seem to think so. I personally don't think it is the least bit. Parents are concerned because there are a lot of predators out there. But.... there are predators all over the Internet not just Myspace.com. So why is it that many people are trying to single out Myspace? Could it be that, this website has become the #1 thing to do among young people?

I think that parents need to stop blaming Myspace.com and its makers, and start blaming themselves. Those parents are the ones that have the power. Those parents are the ones that are putting the computers in their child's bedrooms. Those parents are the ones that are giving their young children total access to the Internet. Those parents are the ones that are not setting the parent controls on the computer.

But in the end... they still want to put all the blame on myspace. I remember when I was younger, and the Internet was just getting uber-popular. I had Prodigy as an ISP (Yea, I said Prodigy... that's wayyyyy back there, huh?!?) and I was on it all the time, in the chat rooms talking to everybody. My parents got concerned, gave me that "talk". Then proceeded to remove the computer from my grasps all together.

When I look back at it all, I realize that was good parenting. I did not meet up with anybody off the Internet. Nor did it corrupt my mind, as parents like to call it.

So... what do you think? Is Myspace the one that is truly to blame? Or is it the parents that should carry the burden?

Connie Chung... is she insane?

I don't watch MSNBC on a regular basis, but I watch it every now and then. So I am sitting on my bed, surfing through channels, and what do I see..... Connie Chung singing like a stray wolf. I swear... she must have been drunk out her mind, to even consider singing.

MSNBC canceled the "Maury & Connie" show, after it received very bad reviews & ratings. Connie Chung then decided to sing about her show being canceled, on the final episode. Bashing her husband, the station, and most importantly making a complete idiot of herself.

Kidman, Urban to wed down under

Yes, it has been confirmed, Academy-Award winner Nicole Kidman will wed Grammy-winning country star Keith Urban in Australia.
Rumors have been circulating all over Hollywood, but the truth has come out. The couple is currently staying in their homeland for their upcoming nuptials - which many suspect could be this weekend.
Another bit of good news regarding this story: According to People magazine, while 20 or so paparazzi were camped out at Kidman's home in Australia on Tuesday, she had a case of cold beer delivered to them while they waited, with a note that read, "Enjoy! Nicole and Keith."
It's good to see paparazzi and celebrities playing nice.

Missy Elliott Biopic in the Works

We here at 7Cities.com want to congratulate Portsmouth, VA's own Missy Elliot in getting the chance to do her own biopic film. This is an except taken from the Associated Press:

Missy Elliott will star in the big-screen version of her life story, Universal Pictures has announced. The untitled project is in the development phase, studio spokeswoman Jennifer Chamberlain said Wednesday.

The Elliott biopic will be produced by Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal through their company, Tribeca Films.

Elliott, 34, began her music career with the all-girl group, Sista. She has won four Grammys, including best rap solo performance for "Get Ur Freak On" in 2002.

She has released six solo albums, including last year's "The Cookbook." Her production credits include tracks for Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake and Destiny's Child.

Country music with a pop twist

Remember Michelle Branch? Haven't heard from her in a while? Have you been wondering where she's been?
Well, fear not, she has resurfaced, but you may not be able to find her new songs listening to 94.9 The Point or 101.3. You will need to tune-in to Eagle 97, the country music station.
Branch and her longtime friend, Jessica Harp, have joined together and formed The Wreckers, a country duo, and they are quite a hit in the country community. Their debut CD, Stand Still, Look Pretty, was released in May with the song "Leave the Pieces" being played all over country radio. Their voices are quite similar so it may be hard to tell which one is Michelle Branch's, but the songs do echo Branch's musical stylings that can be found on her two solo CDs, Hotel Paper and The Spirit Room. I give the album an A+. Way to "branch out," Michelle.

So as I was getting ready for work today, I was watching Batman Begins on HBO. Then I thought to myself how good these superhero movies are becoming. I am just waiting for the day when Hollywood decides to make a Justice League Movie. I will be jumping for joy.
