Janet Jackson and Beyonce Discuss Weight Loss In Us Weekly

Janet1

I just read the latest issue of US Weekly with Janet Jackson on the cover in her first interview discussing how she lost 60 pounds in 4 months.  I'm glad for her but I feel bad for the teens out there who read the article and think they can lose such drastic amounts of weight in such a short amount of time.

In the same issue Beyonce confesses to physically not eating anything, not one morsel for two weeks only drinking special shakes in order to lose twenty pounds in about two weeks. She admits it was wrong and not healthy but since it was for a movie role that makes it okay?

So the teen who is a size 14 but wants to be a size 10 before the prom should just stop eating and only drink a shake for two weeks to fit the size 10 dress?

Janet claims all of her weight loss was from a healthy diet and exercise but most people with a healthy diet and exercise don't lose 60 pounds in four months.  Janet alleges she gained the weight for a movie role that didn't work out due to issues with timing.

I love Janet and Beyonce I am just concerned about the young people who will read this article and (a) be discouraged from healthy eating and exercise when they don't have Janet type of results and (b) the teens who decide to starve off the weight real quick when they have an event coming up.

Janet claims she went from 180 pounds and is now at 120 pounds.  Beyonce claims that after her starvation diet she started eating a regular diet and the pounds came back rather quickly.

What are your personal feelings about these two stars and their weight loss?

Whew...I'm lucky if I lose 20 pounds in 4 months...but you're right, it's not healthy because teens will probably try to imitate their weight loss regiment.

US Weekly should publish articles that teach teens how to lose weight the healthy way. These two ladies will encourage bad habits which could cause health issues for young women.

Well I love Beyonce and janet too I think they are two very talented individuals. I also think that to lose that amount of weight in such short time and the way it was lost is taking a risk, but they would of had some idea as to what they were doing-I hope.Although it's not a good example for teenagers it's now up to the parents to educate their kids about the consequences to these kind of diets and hopefully they would listen.
