What's your secret TV confession?

I found out recently that a good friend of mine won't miss an episode of "Teen Mom."

Me = perplexed. I don't know the demographics of the "Teen Mom" audience, but I doubt a highly intelligent 27-year-old with a penchant for political history and JFK memorabilila is the "Teen Mom" target audience.

But then I think about all the drivel I've consumed in the past ten years, and I understand.

Besides the shows I believe still stand the test of time ("Buffy," "My So Called Life," "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman") I've watched some really, really bad TV.

Currently, there's "Jersey Shore." So many of my friends watch this show, so I'm ALMOST unashamed.

But would they judge me if they knew my love for "America's Next Top Model?" What about "Toddlers and Tiaras?"

Does anyone remember "The Starlet," from 2005? The prize was a "career-launching" role on "One Tree Hill." How about "The Wade Robson Project" on MTV in 2003?

I watched both of those shows obsessively.

My biggest confession:

I've seen every episode of "One Tree Hill." I KNOW.  This is the show they clip on "The Soup" because at one point last season, villain Dan looks on as a dog EATS the donor heart for which he's been waiting months.

I love competition.  The Regional’s episodes NEVER disappoint!  I put a video above from LAST year's Regionals episode just to see how good they were last year too!  They blasted open the episode with a musical number to start off with.  I don’t think I’ve seen that before - other than a few Cheerios performances.  It also opened with Quinn… wow – what a Witch!  She is so power hungry it’s not even funny!  I really don’t like the crazy, power hungry Quinn – although watching the last couple episodes it was definitely coming – who knew someone would want Prom Queen that badly… back to that in a moment…

This was definitely a controversial episode.  Teen drinking… it can be handled in many ways and many parents are squeamish about having it on TV (just look at the Glee Facebook Page).  I’m not really sure what Glee wanted the audience to take away from the episode, but I totally understand the underlying message; even if I wanted a drink while I was watching and reminiscing about my college days.

 

Glee: Leave it to Bieber

 

I have GLEEber Fever!!  Yes, I went there... (Thanks Kirk).  I think it was awesome that Glee covered the topic of Justin Bieber.  They are both the pop sensations of the year and they did a great job of incorporating the two together especially since Bieber’s core audience is middle/high school students.

My Funny Valentine ('s Day Episode of Modern Family)

Imagine Grandpa trying to mack on Grandma. Or Uncle Bob trying to break off a piece of Aunt Irma. Cringing yet? Yeah, for some strange reason that's my first reaction every time I have to sit through Phil Dunphy putting the moves on Claire. 

I don't know what it is - he's not a totally unattractive man, in that some friend's dad sort of way. I'm sure many women find him attractive, but for some strange reason, the creators and writers of Modern Family have made Phil into this totally asexual character for me. Whenever Phil bursts my bubble of disillusionment, I get the willies like WHOAH.

Then again, I might laugh. A lot. Because if the experience isn't repulsing me and reminding me of elderly relatives getting busy, it's reminding me of watching the blundering awkwardness that transpires when my sixth grade students try to profess their undying (until next week), eternal (if eternity like, reset daily) love for one another.

In an uncharacteristic move, this week's post will be short, sweet, and straight to the point. I really only want to talk about the main focus of this week's episode: Phil and Claire. Or should I say, Clive and Julianna?

Glee: Are you ready for some Football?!

 Hello Pop People – I know, I know… it’s been far too long since I blogged.  With the holidays, Glee not being on the air, my lack of seeing movies I really didn’t know what to write about.  Since the Golden Globes were on, Lindsay Lohan has been charged with Grand Felony, and Glee had a post Super Bowl episode and another one on Tuesday... here I am!

Glee was highly regarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press.  They were nominated for 5 Golden Globes including Best Television Series (Comedy or Musical); Best Actor in a Television Series (Comedy or Musical) - Matthew Morrison; Best Actress in a Television Series (Comedy or Musical) - Lea Michelle; Best Supporting Actor (Television) - Chris Colfer; Best Supporting Actress (Television) - Jane Lynch.  Chris Colfer and Jane Lynch won their categories respectively, and Glee won for Best Television Series!  I loved the emotion that was in Chris’s acceptance speech.
