I have never been a car girl.
I’ve liked cars well enough, but I’ve never really cared too much about what gets me from here to there as long as it lets me do things like stop, see at night and annoy other drivers by singing off key to bad music with all the windows down. Climate control is nice but lack of heat and air conditioning have never really been deal-breakers for me.
As for boys and cars, I did once date a guy in high school just because he drove a red Mustang convertible. And, like most girls, I have had my head swivel toward a gleaming Ferrari or Lamborghini.
But there is a new pony in the stable and he makes my heart race (yeah, I know cars and ships are supposed to be feminine, but … not this one)
And he is – gasp – domestic!
Here’s his picture.

Yep… That is the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro – in black!
When I see this coming toward me, I feel like I am running through a field of daisies into his waiting arms.
Why is that?
My reaction is visceral, immediate. I can catch a glimpse of him in the distance, and even before I am sure if it is really him, I feel it.
It is weird!
I think he’s really too much of a bad boy for me. He’s not all that environmentally friendly, even in his V6 permutation. And I think I want something a little cuter, computer happy and, well, girly.
He will be my unrequited love, and if, by chance, that changes, I’ll let you know.
A note about Daily Pop:
I am sorry we have neglected you low these many weeks. I will set some fires, kick some pants, stir some hornets and try to get folks writing again. We’ll call this our summer hiatus. I mean, there’s nothing on television and the summer movies, quite frankly, have been pretty lame (though I may write something about “Midnight in Paris,” which I loved.) We’ve been at the beach, in the mountains, in air conditioning. We’ve spent all summer reading the whole, stinking “Song of Ice and Fire” series – all the way through the daggone dragons. But winter is coming! And we’ll get back on board.
