What you missed on Top Chef this week: RICHARD WON!
This post is so late that you most certainly already knew this. I have very few comments, mostly because I’m just so happy that Richard won.
First, were Jennifer Carroll AND Elia wearing wigs at the finale? Elia’s hair is usually strange looking, but I thought it looked even less “real” than normal, and Jen looked like she had a bad weave.
Second, was anyone else disappointed that Richard didn’t actually make Cap’n Crunch ice cream. I was really looking forward to that.
Third, I was really impressed that Spike ended up being useful to Richard. I actually liked Spike this season and was sad he didn’t make it very far. Although I think the judges got it wrong many times this season, Richard was the best chef, so I guess it didn’t really matter.
I loved how Tom Colicchio looked at Richard like he was a proud papa at Judges’ Table and when he met with Richard in the kitchen.
I would love to know how much editing goes in to each episode. I met Mike Isabella in person and he was friendly and funny, not snarky and rude at all. Maybe when his competitive spirit comes out, he gets that way, or maybe the editing makes him look that way for “better TV.” Either way, when Richard was announced as winner, they did a great job of making Mike look like a jerk, when really, I don’t think he is. I’m sure other people who were watching the show thought that Mike looked like a sore loser, but I really think it must have been the editing.
Was anyone else wondering how old Mike Isabella’s wife is? She looked like she was 18! Also, he said that he “quit his job” to be on Top Chef – was anyone else thinking that he actually quit his job to open his own restaurant in D.C.?
While I’m sad that Top Chef is over, I am glad that I won’t have to feel bad about not getting my blogs up quickly after the show. I can’t stay up until 11 at night! Also, I have a wedding to plan!
